The above cards are a few from my actual deck..there are many beautiful decks out there and you must seek your own style...even if it is the same as mine.
Reading tarot is not a hard thing to do. I use the Morgan-Greer deck. I must admit that it is not a pretty deck by most standards but I choose this deck. There are many rules of thumb when choosing a deck is concern...and yes...everyone has their own opinion on the topic. My opinion is one of letting the deck choose you. When viewing a selection of tarot decks feel which one calls out to you. This is more then likely the deck that you should use. If you do not feel that pull to a certain deck then maybe you have not found your deck yet...or the knack for reading is not your field to get into.Giving a reading also has many opinions. Some follow the written words to setting up a card spread and the meaning of the cards. I find that this hampers a reading when I read tarot. When I begin I ask if there is a situation or thought for the reading and meditate on that question for the cards. I then have the person shuffle the cards till if feels right for them to stop. I then lay the cards out in a pattern that feels right for that certain reading. In my opinion there is no set way to lay out the cards but I will associated a reference to each card....such as "this card may stand for the action to be taken" etc.
I then mediate on the cards and do what I call zoning out a bit. The thoughts come from what I feel is your higher self or maybe the greater good being as I call it.The cards start to form a story...the first one is a picture of that story and I open my thoughts to the meaning of the story. The next card is a continuation from the first and so forth. It is like watching a movie...I ask myself what is going on in this movie and what happened to get to the next part(the next card) in the movie etc.
This is the way that I read tarot. Many have their own ways of reading the cards. I will suggest to open your mind and thoughts...no matter how strange the though may be that pops into your mind...go with it...trust your intution and feelings.
You may find ...as I have....that doing a reading on yourself and or someone close to you is very hard. I have found that I tend to put into a reading what I wish to see or fear to see.
Sweet Wishes
