AN INTERVIEW WITH A STREET VENDOR IN WANDEGEYA MARKET.

NAME:                    Mama Shalom.
OCCUPATION:     Business lady.
RESIDENT       :     Kisenyi (Mulago)
INTERVIEW BY:  OKETA JASPER

This is part of an interesting conversation I had with a business lady in one of the markets in Kampala suburb. She was able to tell me her several views on these polythene bags and also on the issues concerning Domestic Wastes in Kampala today.

What do you think of Kampala City Council today?

Though Kampala City Council is doing it’s best to keep Kampala clean, some of the people as well as the city council officials themselves care less of the environment

What do you take Waste Management to be?

Waste management is the ability of a citizen to properly manage his or her garbage without necessary involvement of any authority.

What do you think of the way the City council workers today?

These workers nowadays take too long to come and collect these bins and as a result, our children play in them and come out with all sorts of diseases which are hard and expensive to treat.

So, if given the opportunity, what would you tell those working at the K.C.C.  head offices?

I would for one thank them for their endless planning on our city but I know though they try their best, they cannot plan all alone since it is we that are affected by their planning and we are the ones who benefit. However, though they are trying to do their best, they should help us who are in the slum areas and improve on their working procedures since we are really in a poor and sorry state.

At this juncture, let me first thank you for your time, I’m sure you are a busy woman so, thanks again for your time.
