Chapter 11 - Last Chapter
"Oh, that must be my ride," Meggie said, picking up her filled suitcase, and walking slowly downstairs, with Nick following behind, sadly.
"Phone me as soon as you arrive, not one second later," Meg said, huggin' her friend, as they all stood at the front door.
"Bye Meggie," Bri said, hugging her too. "Party, party, party," he quietly chanted, intending for Meggie to hear. She shoved him, gently. "I'm just joking, we're not having a party until we're sure you're in Buffalo," he said, smiling.
"Alright, Bri shut up. Let's leave these 2 alone," Meg said, dragging him away, as he continued to chant; 'Party, party, party!'
"I'm really gonna miss you," Meggie said, grabbing Nick's hand, trying to take his attention from the floor to her.
"Then don't leave," Nick said, quietly, looking up at her with tears in his eyes.
"Honey, it's too late for that. But, don't worry, it's not like I'm not gonna visit a zillion times. I'll be back in 5 days, just before Christmas. I'll leave on the 27th, and then I'll be back for AJ's birthday. The longest we'll be without each other would be like 60 days. We've been away from each other for a lot longer then that. If anyone can handle it, we can," Meggie assured, rubbing his cheek with her free hand.
"Yeah, I guess we have no choice. I just want to let you know, that last night, meant a lot to me," Nick said, wrapping an arm around her waist.
"Me too," Meggie agreed, smiling. "I should get my ass in gear. I love you, Nicky."
"I love you, too," he said, leaning over, and giving her another, memorable kiss. Meggie started walking, and didn't look back, knowing tha pain would be unbearable.
