Falling for Popularity! Chapter 2!

"See ya after school, Ma," I screamed upstairs, as I grabbed my keys and left home. I got into my car, humming 'Give it to you', by Jordan Knight. I pulled outta the driveway, flipping the stations on the radio, until I found a song I liked. I passed Nick's house, seeing a blond boy, and a brunnette girl playing what looked like tag in the front yard. I rode further down the street to find Nick, slowly making his way to school. I honked the horn, to see him jump and turn and turn around. I unrolled my window, and pulled up beside him. "Hey hun, sorry I scared ya. Get in," I said, squinting against the sun.

"You sure?" he asked.

"Yeah, of course," I said.

I watched him run over to the passenger side. "Thanks," he said, smiling once he got in.

"No problemo. So, what do you think about the camping trip?" I asked, wondering if he was even going.

"I think it's gonna be pretty fun. I've always loved nature, as long as I don't have any close encounters with bears," he said.

I laughed. "Where the hell is this camp supposed to be, anyways?" I asked him.

"Canada. Somewhere in Ontario," he said, shrugging his shoulers.

"Holy shit! And we're taking a bus there?" I asked him, surprised.

"Yeah, it's gonna be a long ride," he said.

"Guess so," I said, entering the parking lot.

"There's a spot right there," Nick said, pointing it out.

"Thanks Nick," I said, as I pulled into it. We both got out of the car, and headed towards the school.

"Are you going on the trip?" he asked me.

"Yeah, but I'm not a big fan of nature. If you hear someone screaming their head off, don't worry about it. It just means I saw a bug," I told him.

"Ok, I'll come to the rescue with my trusty bug repelant," he said.

I giggled. "Alright, then I'll sigh, and fall into your arms and say 'my hero'," I said.

He nodded. "I wouldn't have it any other way," he said, taking my books, again.

"Nick! You're locker's downstairs, mine is up," I said.

"Your point being? I'll go up to your locker, and then down to mine. I don't mind," he said.

"Ok, but you have to let me take you out for lunch today, ok?" I asked, smiling at the angry look he gave me.

"Deal," he said, sighing.

"Hey Meghan, good idea. Gettin' the nerds to carry your books," Joel said, as we passed him. Joel is captain of the football team, and has been in the 12th grade for 3 years now.

I glared at him, then turned to Nick. "Don't let him get to you," I said, as I undid my lock.

"It's hard," he said, quietly, putting my books in my locker.

"I know, babe. He's just jealous. You're good-looking and smart," I said, getting everything I needed, then closing my locker.

He gave me the weirdest look. "Am not," he said.

"Yes, you are. And, I'm not just saying that to be nice. You are absolutly gorgeous," I told him, watching him blush. Everything I said was true though. He is extremly good-looking. We walked downstairs in silence.

Finally, Nick spoke. "Thanks, no one's ever said something so nice to me before," he said, quietly.

"Well, you deserve all the compliments in the world," I said.

He walked over to his locker, dropping his books at the bottom. I wrapped my arms around him, tightly. "Woah, this is nice," he said, surprised.

"Yeah, well, I thought you could use a hug," I said, not letting go just yet.

"You're right," he said, softly.

The warning bell rang, making me pull away. "Meet me at your locker for lunch, ok?" I said, hurrying away.

"K, I will," he said, waving at me.

I walked away, thinking about how different Nick was from most guys. He was mature and sweet, and from what I could tell, he wasn't sex-obsessed.

All during classes, I kept my mind on Nick, hoping to become good friends with him.
