The Black Dragons of Riverdale Prep! Chapter 6!

"Watch it!" Natasha yelled.

"Us watch it? You two are the ones that bumped into us!" I yelled back and shot her an evil glare. I glanced over at Scott who was looking at something in his pocket, it was kind of big and I couldn’t quite tell what it was, but oh well.

"Well...well..." Natasha babbled.

"Well, can’t you talk? Or did that Hooked on Phonics program not work for you?"

Natasha’s mouth grew wide. "How rude!" She screeched and stomped away, dragging Scott with her. JC laughed.

"Now, now Jackie. That was sorta mean, wasn’t it? But it was still funny." He laughed at me.

"She deserved it." I answered and we went back dancing. Throughout the dance, they took pictures, sang songs, everything they could to have fun.

Another hour passed and the last dance was playing. It was "Truly, Madly, Deeply," by Savage Garden. JC asked me to dance and of course I said yes. While me and JC were dancing, I could see Scott coming towards us out of the corner of my eye. Oh no, what is he going to do now? I saw him reach into his pocket and pull out something. I squinted my eyes to see what it was in the darkness. My eyes grew wide in shock. It was a gun! What was he doing with a gun? I stopped dancing and turned and faced Scott.

"Scott! What are you doing?!" I yelled. His eyes grew big and his smile, his smile looked like he was crazy. What was he going to do? I saw him begin to pull the trigger, and he pointed the gun towards JC. Oh no! He was going to shoot JC! I can’t have that. "NO!!!" Too late, Scott pulled the trigger. I knocked JC down and I felt something hit me in the back. I fell down ontop of JC with a thud.

"Jackie?" JC asked me worriedly.

"H...help me..." I managed to whisper...

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ =)

"She’s hurt! Call 911! NOW!" JC hollered. Panic spread across his face. "No, no Jackie. No..." He kept on repeating. She had taken the blow for him again, and this time it was fatal. That could of been him lying on the ground, not her. Her head was in his lap and her eyes were closed.

"OH MY GOD!" Shayna yelled and ran across the room to Jackie. "What happened?" She cried. Tears began to trickle down her cheeks. Justin came up behind her and put his arm around her. Justin looked at JC, and JC’s eyes began to water, but no tears came out.

All the others had gathered around the couple. Scott was behind them, shocked. He had meant to shoot JC, not Jackie. His plan backfired and he didn’t want to get caught. He bolted towards the door. Lance, Joey, and Chris quickly lunged over at him and tackled him down.

"No you don’t. You ain’t leaving here buddy." Lance said to the pinned Scott. Jeff was by them.

"Why the hell did you shoot Jackie! You were suppose to get JC you fool!" Jeff roared and the 3 guys looked at him.

"You too!?" Joey pinned him down as well. "You’re gonna pay jerk."

An ambulance had quickly made it to the scene and took Jackie to the hospital. The spot where she had laid was covered with blood. This perfect night had turned into a nightmare, and all because of a jealous boyfriend. JC went to the hospital with Jackie, vowing never to leave her side.

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

At the hospital...

Jackie was quickly rushed to the emergency room, JC was forced to stay in the lobby, until they said he could see her. He was in denial, not ready to make all this sink in. His girlfriend was maybe dying and he could do nothing about it. It just wasn’t fair!

Shayna, Justin, Joey, Brooke, Chris, Lindsey, Natalie, and Lance arrived shortly after JC and Jackie left. All the girls eyes were full of tears over their fallen friend. Nothing so tragic had ever hit them this hard. She was like their best friend to all of them. The guys all tried to comfort them to no avail, nothing could or would stop the grief all of them were feeling. Nothing at all...

*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

I was in a room, dark, with barely anything in it. I couldn’t really remember all that happened after I was hit with the bullet. My ribs and back were all bandaged up, I think to stop the bleeding, but it wasn’t really helping, I could see dark red coming through the bandages, I began to cry. Was I going to die? I had heard things about teens getting shot at parties and stuff, and I never thought that would happen to me. Why me? Out of everyone on Earth, I was the one who was going to die. Tears began to flow gently out of my eyes. I would never be able to see my parents again, no more going to the mall, no more friends. No more JC...

A nurse came and talked with the group.

"Is their any family members we can contact?" She asked. Shayna shook her head.

"Her parents are on vacation, and none of her other relatives live around here." Shayna replied sadly. Justin hugged her and she buried her face into the softness of his shirt. Her tears watering the shirt softly.

"Well, I can have one person visit her tonight." The nurse announced. Everyone turned towards JC.

"Do you guys want me to go?" He asked quietly. They all nodded their heads.

"I think she really wants to see you now." Shayna said. JC nodded.

"Okay." Him and the nurse began to walk down hallways and hallways of doors until they reached one labeled "Critical Care." JC gasped at the door. Was she in that bad of condition? As if the nurse read his mind, she nodded her head gently. She pushed open the door and he walked in.

The room was dark, lit only by the street lights outside. The nurse quietly shut the door as she left. JC walked further into the room. A figure laid on the bed facing the other direction. JC walked closer to the bed and sat down in a chair next to it.

"Jackie?" He whispered. The figure turned and faced him slowly. It was Jackie. A light white shirt covered her top, but he could still see the bandages wrapped around her ribs and back. "Oh my..."

She winced a little as she began to speak. "JC...am I going to die?" She whispered sadly, afraid to hear the truth.

"I don’t know, they haven’t told us anything yet." He took her hand gently in his and just held it.

"I don’t want to die." She began to shake lightly from crying. Her eyes were already red from her crying earlier.

"Don’t talk like that, you may live." He tried to comfort her. A light knock rapped on the door. The door opened, light filling the room for a second before the door was shut again. Shayna walked quietly into the room. Her frame was shaking, worried about her friend. Her eyes grew huge as she saw Jackie, wrapped in now almost red bandages.

"Oh my...Jackie..." She gasped. What was going to happen to her?

"Shayna...I...I’m...going to die, aren’t I?" Jackie asked, it seemed like she was giving up all hope.

"No, you can’t. You’re only 17 and have a whole life ahead of you. You can’t go now." Shayna moved next to JC and looked at her friend.

"I...I..." that was all she could say, her eyes fluttered shut. She was exhausted from all the blood loss. JC pushed the nurse call button on Jackie’s bed and a nurse quickly took Jackie down to a doctor and they re-wrapped her bandages. She was still faint and a little out of it, so Shayna decided to leave. JC stayed, he wouldn’t leave Jackie’s side...

I laid in the cold, hard hospital bed wrapped in bandages, waiting for my final breath. I knew I was going to die. My heart gave a hard tug as I thought about it. So many people I would be leaving, especially JC.

JC was sitting at my side, clutching my hand for dear life. For the past two days, JC has been at my side, night and day. I hated the thought of leaving him, since we had only just begun.

"Oh Jackie, why? Why do you have to leave me?" JC asked me. Tears began to trickle slowly down his cheek. I had never seen him cry before.

I just shook my head. "I don’t know why JC. It just happened, that’s life." I tried to be as calm as possible. JC’s usually sturdy frame began to shake a little. He stopped and put his free hand into his pocket.

"I...I wanted to give this to you the other night." He handed me a box wrapped in gold foil with angels spread all across it. I took it and sat up, even though it pained me to do so. I gently unwrapped the box and opened it. Inside was a crystal star with a picture from the dance in it. Above the picture, words were inscribed and they said, "To You My Love."

I looked from JC to the gift and my eyes welled up in tears. "Oh JC! This is gorgeous!" I exclaimed quietly. He smiled lightly.

"You think?"

"I know!"

The rest of the day, JC stayed at my side. All of my friends came and visited telling me they all loved me. They were a great bunch of friends and I would miss them dearly...

Later that night...

::Pump:: My heartbeat was getting slower. ::pump:: My time was about up.

"JC," I whispered. He was staring outside looking at the stars. He rushed over to me.

"Yes?" He asked concerned.

"My time is up. I feel that I’m about to die."

He shook his head. "No! Please no!"

"It’s my time to leave JC." ::Pump:: My heartbeat was getting weaker.

"There was so much we didn’t get to share."

"I know, ::cough cough:: and I hate it." ::Pump::

"Please Jackie," I clutched the crystal star in my hand. ::pump::

"I’m sorry JC. But please promise me on thing before...before I go. ::Cough cough::"

"Anything."

"Please promise me you won’t forget me."

"I never will. You are my first true love."

"::Cough cough:: You are my only love." ::Pump::

"I love you."

"I love you too." His face came closer to mine and we kissed our final kiss. It was the most passionate kiss ever, I felt his warm soft lips against mine. I had whispered my last words. The crystal star fell from my hand and crashed to the ground. Little shards of crystal spilled across the cold hospital floor and my body went limp...

E-mail Jackie.
