Secrets and Lies! Chapter 8!
"I don't know. I guess I'm scared. No, I'm terrified," she answered, looking down."Of what?" he asked.
"You. I'm afraid of you. You have no idea how hard I am falling for you," she said.
"And, what's so bad about that?" Nick asked, hurt.
"Nothing, I just don't want either of us to get hurt. That is why I can't let this go any further," she explained.
"Get hurt? What happened to if Bri and Meg could make it work then we could too?" Nick said, sadness showing on his face.
"C'mon Nick, don't do this. I do like you, but I'm afraid that if we do go out, I would fall in love with you. No, I know I would fall in love with you. And, you being away from me all the time would cause too much pain for the both of us. I just want you to understand that this is not your fault. I am truely happy that you are successful," she explained. "But, I hope we can remain friends."
He put his hands on her shoulders, and pulled her close, giving her one last pasionate kiss, then pulling away. "Friends," he agreed, walking back in with Meggie right behind him.
"What's wrong with her?" Meg mouthed to Nick. He just shrugged his shoulders, pretending not to know.
"Meggie, what's up?" Bri asked, but she didn't seem to notice. "Yo Meggie," he called, snapping his fingers in front of her face to catch her attention.
"Huh?" she asked, confused.
"What's wrong?" he repeated.
"Umm, nothing. Nothing at all," she said.
"You sure? You seemed in a dreamworld,"he said, emphasing the last word.
"I'm fine," she said, smiling.
"Well then, what's wrong with him now?" Meg asked, referring to Nick.
"Oh, umm, we, uhh, switched personalities outside," Meggie said, hoping everyone would drop the subject. She looked over at Nick, who hadn't moved in the past 10 minutes. She put her hand on his thigh and squeezed gently.
He jumped and looked at her. "What?" he asked, quietly.
"Are you gonna be alright?" she asked.
