Secret's and Lies! Chapter 9!
"Yeah, I'll be fine," Nick said, pasting a smile on his face.Meggie nodded. "Alright," she said, quietly.
"So, where to next?" Brian asked.
"I'm just gonna go home," Meggie said. "But, you guys stay and have fun."
"Ya know what? I'll join you. Leave the lovebirds alone," Nick said.
"Yeah, but what'll happen if we're alone?" Meggie thought.
"Is that ok with you?" Nick asked.
"Uhh, yeah sure," she agreed.
"Alright, let's go," he said, stepping out of the booth.
"See ya'll at home," Meggie said, following Nick.
The walk home was silent. Nick slowly went to hold Meggie's hand, slipping his fingers, through hers.
Meggie hated this. They both knew she couldn't resist him. She found him so desirable. She just wanted to hold him and kiss him, without worry when he was supposed to leave for God knows where.
"Hey there, buy a rose for your lady? Only $2," a guy offered.
Nick gave him his money without a word. "Here," he said, handing the rose to Meggie.
"Thanks Nick, that's real sweet of you," she said, smelling the rose.
"Yeah, well...," he said. He slowly grabbed her hand again, and they continued their quiet journey home.
When they arrived home, Nick went to the living room, and Meggie went to her room. She layed down after turning on some music. 'Angel of Mine' by Monica blasted through the speakers. She sang along with the song.
Nick watched from the door, after discovering that there was absolutly nothing interesting on TV. "Why doesn't she understand? We could make it work," he thought. He listened carefully to the words. He thought they described everything perfectly. How he felt for Meggie. He knew that he barely knew her and he really didn't believe in love at first site...until now.
"How long have you been standing there?" Meggie asked, snapping him out of his trance.
"Not long. I just wanted to tell you I'm going to sleep. I'm leaving tomorrow," he said.
"Ok. I'm gonna go to sleep too. G'night," she said, shutting off her light.
"Good night, Angel of Mine," he whispered, faintly.
