Many people think birds are relatively smart creatures to be able to migrate south, and know what direction south is, and know when to go, and where to go et cetera. However, many of these smart, southern-bound fliers die because of something very stupid on their way. They are affected by giant antennas that handle radio, tv, cell-phone and other signals. It all pretty much starts out the same for ever bird that dies this way. They're flying in the dark, then see some bright light. "Wow," thinks the bird, "how beautiful!" They almost get hypnotized. Then, they circle the light. Then, they become bad pilots. They get distracted, and forget to listen to the trafic control people. Many smash into each other. Others smash into the tower or the wires which hold the tower into place. This happens to about 4 million birds every year. This mostly happens to songbirds. |
