We have a variety of projects that we do annually, they
are listed below:
January: Distinguished Service Awards.
We have a formal banquet honoring our outstanding local
Farmer, Teacher, Student*, Law Enforcement Officer, Fire Fighter, Rescuer, and Senior Citizen.
*A college scholarship is also awarded to our outstanding student.
A Distinguished Service Award is given to a dedicated
Jaycees member.
March: Gospel Sing.
A gospel sing is held at the Yadkinville Elementary School featuring five or six local gospel groups.
April: Fiddlers' Convention and Bluegrass Contest.
We hold a fiddlers' convention at the Yadkinville Elementary School. Bands and individuals compete for
prizes.
May: Magic Show.
We start our solictation campain from businesses and individuals to have a magic show in late July. Portions of the proceeds are given to benefit several area charities.
May: Community Birthday Calendar Sales.
We sale birthday calendars with six listings of your choice, extra listing are 25 cents extra. Ads to our
calendar are also sold.
The calendars are ordered in late July and we receive
them in October. They are distributed to our custumers
for the next year. Portions of the proceeds are given
to local and area charities.
September: Harvest Festival.
We start planning for the harvest festival in June, looking for entertainment groups, selling arts and crafts and food booths. Vendors must register with
us no later than mid-September for a booth.
November: Christmas Lights.
We hang Christmas Lights in town and down highway 601
before the Thanksgiving Holidays and leave them up until mid-January.
December: Christmas Parade.
The first Saturday in December we hold a Christmas Parade from Yadkinville Elementary School to the Yadkin
Plaza. All floats, bands, school clubs and other partisipants must register with us in advance to be in
the parade.
Adopt-A-Highway: Trash is picked up along the roadside four times a year.
