In the Name of God Amen, I Stephen BROOKS the County of Hyde State of North Carolina being weak in body but of sound memory blessed be God do this day fifteenth of July in the Year of Our Lord Seventeen Hundred and Ninty Seven make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say first I give to my son William BROOKS eighty two acres of land joining of Thomas BROOKS one bed and furniture one case of drawers one puter bason one horse, also, I give to my son Stephen BROOKS one hundred and fifteen acres of land including a plantation on the North side of the Lake one negro woman and her two children one puter bason one bed and furniture one dozen of puter spoons and a halfe a dozen of silver teaspoons and twenty dollars to be raised out of my estate six months after my death.
Also - I give to my son Jacob BROOKS one negro man one half dozen of puter plates one family Bible, ten dollars
Also - I give to my Daughter Eastor besides what I have already given her I desire that fifty pounds should be raised out of my property by my Executors and remain in their hands that is she should be a widow or in any suffering sercumstance no body to take care of her then to be paid to her at their discresion otherwise to be equally divided between my other five children that is to say William and Stephen and Jacob and Charity and Salley
Also - I give to my Daughter Charity one ovil table blew chist one puter bason and two dishes.
Also - to my Daughter Sarah I give thirty acres of land joining of Bannister MIDYETs and Jessey MIDYETs south line runing from the road to the creek one desk one mare one puter bason one dish.
And - all the rest of my property to be equally divided between William BROOKS Charity BROOKS Sarah MIDYET, I make and ordain William BROOKS and Jesse MIDYET my Executors of this my Will in trust for the intent perpaus of this my will contained in witness whereof I have the said Stephen BROOKS have to this my Last Will & Testament set my hand and seal the day and year above writen. Signed sealed and delivered by the said Stephen BROOKS as his Last Will & Testament in the presents of us who were present at the signing and sealing thereof
