WILL OF JOSEPH HARRIS






STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
HYDE COUNTY


I Joseph HARRIS of Swanquarter being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following. (viz.)

First I give and bequeath unto my two sons (viz.) Jesse HARRIS and David HARRIS all the land which I possess with the privileges and appartenances thereunto belongin to be equally divided between them after the death of my beloved wife Sally HARRIS. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly HALL one hundred & twenty five dollars to be paid by my two sons viz. Jesse HARRIS & David HARRIS in five years by annual instalments of twenty five dollars for anum.

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly HALL one bed and its furniture one chest four head of hogs, and one cow & calf after the death of my wife Sally HARRIS. All the rest, residue & remainder of my property which I have not given off in legacies both real & personal I give and bequeath unto my two sons Jesse HARRIS & David HARRIS to be equally divided between them after the death of my wife Sally HARRIS. And I hereby appoint my son Jesse HARRIS and Martin JARVIS sole executors of this my last will & testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereoff I have hereunto set my hand and seal Oct. The 21st A. 1834. Signed seal and executed by the above named Joseph HARRIS to be his last will & testament in presscence of us witnesses.

Hyde County Ss Nov. Term 1834, then was this last will & testament of Joseph HARRIS decd. exhibited in open court and duly proven by the oath of W. F. TOOLY one of the subscribing witness thereto and at the time Martin JARVIS one of the Executors therein named qualified as such all of which is ordered to be recorded.
