This Indenture, made the 29th day of August 1900, between Penelope BROOKS, of Hyde County and State of N. C. of the first part, and B. A. SELBY of same County and State, of the second part, Witnesseth: That the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty Dollars to her in hand paid, by the party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and by these presents does grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part; and unto his heirs and assigns, forever, all the following described piece or parcel of land lying in Lake Landing Township, County of Hyde, adjoining the lands of P. S. BROOKS South West corner, and running N. E. 520 feet to a stone, then South by West 520 feet to a stone on the bank of the old Battery ditch then with said Battery Ditch 520 feet to a stone where the Battery Ditch enters into Old Creek and then with Old Creek to the beginning, containing Four acres more or less. To Have and to Hold the above mentioned and described premises, with the appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever, And the said Penelope BROOKS, for herself, her heirs and executors and administrators, covenants and agrees to and with the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, to warrant and forever defend the above granted premises against the claims of all persons whatsoever.
