Company B, 20th Engr Bn (Combat)
35th Engr Group, 18th Engr Brigade
Dong Ba Thin, Rep. of S. Vietnam

FEBRUARY 1966 - FEBRUARY 1967

Stafford, Leon and I traveled to Vietnam together. We arrived in Saigon where we stayed for a couple of days and then we flew to Cam Rhan Bay, the home of the 35th Engineer Group, 18th Engineer Brigade.

Leon got orders to stay there and work, while Stafford and I moved on across the bay to Dong Ba Thin and the 20th Engineer Battalion (Combat), 35th Engineer Group. Stafford and I were assigned to the same battalion, but we were assigned to different companies.

During my stay in Dong Ba Thin, B Company built billets for an army aviation unit, replaced the floating bridge across Cam Rhan Bay, and worked on a runway for an army aviation unit. We had been at Dong Ba Thin a few months when Stafford's company moved to another location. A short time later B Company picked up the advanced party for the 4th Infantry Division and moved the advanced party into the 20th Engineer Battalion compound.

A few weeks later B Company received orders to move out to a new location. While we were moving my unit stopped by Stafford's unit and Stafford and I had a chance to visit for a few minutes.
