Once I completed my tour of duty as a recruiter I was reassigned back to Fort Benning, Georgia. This time I was assigned to Company B of the Infantry Training Group. I worked as an instructor at the Mortar Training Area helping teach Advance Individual Training for Infantry, Indirect Fire Crewman, Mortars (11C10).
The cut-off score for Staff Sergeant (SSG E-6) dropped. Since I had gained a few more points I was finally promoted to Staff Sergeant. I liked working at the Mortar Training Area because teaching and testing new soldiers was a real challenge.
