Comments: I was Lynnette's friend and neighbor for most of her life. Words cannot express the impact of the death of this beautiful, sweet young woman on her family and her community. In spite of her own problems, Lynnette kindly reached out to others and volunteered to help those in need. What I, personally, have the most difficulty with is this: Why are the persons who caused Lynnette's death not charged with murder? If murder is defined as the taking of a human life, why are those who killed Lynnette charged only with neglect and/or assault? If these workers get away with answering to lesser charges, what message does this send to workers in similar institutions? And what does this say about the effectiveness of our court system?

Comments: I went to church with Lynette when she was living in the Pinehurst Group Home. It was a joy to be in her presence! I was the piano player at the church and Lynette would come into the sanctuary on Sunday mornings with a huge smile on her face. During morning fellowship she always made her way up to the pulpit to shake the hands of my pastor, song leader and myself. After a few months the handshakes turned into big bear hugs. During prayer request time, she always requested prayer for her grandmother and showed deep concern for others. It takes a pathetic individual to commit such an act towards someone like Lynette. She would not have caused harm to anything or anyone. It is my hope that these individuals that worked for the group home are punished to the full extent of the law.

Comments: In my opinion the state should be held responsible for the death of Lynnette. They are the only ones with the authority to investigate these homes. If everyone would write to the people in charge, maybe together as a whole we can get the needed attention. There is a link on Page 2 that goes to the email addresses of the Legislators. If you care what happens to these people, PLEASE email them and ask for stronger laws governing these type homes.
