Epilogue

"Are you ready to do this?" Jessilyn's father asked her.
"Daddy," said Jessi, "I've been ready for years."
Jessi took her father's arm and they approched the entrance to the church. Everyone in the church stood and music began to play as Jessi and her father slowly made their way down the aisle towards the altar.
With her mind and heart focused on the tall, handsome blond dressed in a white tuxedo waiting at the end of the aisle for her, Jessi took a deep breath.
She took a step towards her soon-to-be husband as her father let go of her arm. As the arm of the young man standing next to her replaced her father's, tears welled up in Jessi's eyes.

Over the past few months, Jessi had made some serious decisions in her life. She had taken a new chance with love and was happy with the path she had chosen.
The ceremony went by quickly. Before she knew it, Jessi was hearing the minister saying, "May I now present, for the very first time, Mr. and Mrs. Nickolas Carter." She looked up at Nick and he smiled down at her.
A few days after their fight, Nick had arrived at Jessi's house with flowers and explainations. He had told his daughter, who was now standing next to Jessilyn as one of her bridesmaids, about the other family that he had. She had been upset at first since she had wanted her parents to get back together, but then eventually accepted the idea. When Tommy found out about his half-sister, he had thrown a fit. He didn't want to have a sister. After Nick and Jessi had reassured him that nothing was going to change, Tommy had finally come to terms with his new sister. They had even become friends.
I can't believe we're married," Jessi said, as she and Nick got into their limo.
"I know," said Nick, "Six months ago I thought it wasn't going to happen."
"It wasn't going to," Jessi said, "But it has."
Nick leaned over and kissed his new wife. "I love you," he said.
"I love you more," said Jessi, kissing Nick back.
She leaned against him and they rode off into the future.

That's the end of "You Can't Be My Father." Please sign the guest book and leave comments for me. Thanks!
