Chapter Five
I awoke to the sound of Nick's laughter. Sitting up, I looked around me. We must have fallen asleep on the couch because I saw the shirt Nick had been wearing the night before on the arm of a chair near the couch and a blanket was covering me."You're up," Nick said, coming into the living room with a cup of coffee in his hands, "I was wondering if you were still alive.""Yeah," I said, "I'm still alive."Nick sat down next to me and handed me the cup. "Yes, I added chocolate to the coffee. I know you can't survive without it.""Thank you," I said, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Who were you talking to a minute ago?""Brian," said Nick."He's over?" I asked, "Is he still here?""Yeah," Nick said, "He's outside.""Why didn't you invite him in?" I asked."Because," said Nick, "He's outside with your surprise.""Oh," I said, "Can I see what it is now?""Sure," Nick said, "Come on."I put the coffee cup down on the table and Nick pulled me up. We walked to the front door and before I could go out, Nick covered my eyes with his hands."What are you doing?" I asked."It's a surprise," said Nick, "You have to wait a minute longer.""Aw man," I said.Nick guided me out the door and I felt my bare feet hit the stairs in the front of the house."Okay, step down," I heard Nick say, "One more." I could hear Brian's laughter."Now can I look?" I asked, "And why are we outside?""Hold on," said Nick."Hold out your hand," said Brian. I did as I was told and I felt someone press something into my hand. It felt like a key."Okay," Nick said, slowly pulling his hands away from my eyes, "You can look now."I looked down at my hands. There was a set of keys on, of course, a BackStreet Boys key chain."Keys?" I asked."Look up," Nick whispered to me.I looked up and saw Kevin, Howie, AJ, and Brian leaning against a brand new Forest Green Merecedes M-Class."Oh my gosh," I said."It's all yours," said Nick, giving me a hug."It's a welcome back present from all of us," Brian said."Thank you!" I said, giving all of the guys hugs."I take it you like it," said Kevin, laughing."I love it!" I said."Good," Nick said, "Because if you didn't want it, I did.""You can drive it," I told him, "But only if you let me drive your Prowler.""Oh no you don't," said Nick, "After you and the dogs, that car is the most precious thing in my life.""I figured that," I said, giving him a kiss.Brian and the other guys left later that afternoon, after we had gone for a drive in the Mercedes, and after we had ordered pizza for lunch.Later that day, after dinner, Nick and I went for a walk. We walked around the property and then along the canal for a while."Hey, Jen," said Nick, as we stopped by the dock."What?" I asked."I need to ask you something," Nick said."Okay," I said, "What?"Nick fumbled with something in his pocket and then turned towards me. "I know that recently we've had some problems," he said, "But I want you to know that I'll always help you through whatever problems you may have. I love you more than anything and always want to be with you." Taking a deep breath, Nick knelt down in front of me. "Jennifer," he said, "Will you marry me?" He opened a small velvet box to reveal a beautiful diamond ring."Oh my gosh," I said, "Yes!"Nick slipped the ring onto my finger and jumped up. I threw my arms around him and he gave me a long deep kiss."I love you, Nick," I said, as we finally pulled apart."I love you, Jen," said Nick.Chapter 6Back to Babylove's Stories
