Chapter One

I couldn't belive the good mood I was in one day. I decided to write a letter to Nick Carter and the other BackStreet Boys inviting them to spend New Years Eve with me and my family and friends. I really didn't know what to write, but I ended up writing about three pages. I think most of the letter was totally rambling on and on about my life and things like that. I wasn't expecting them to write back or anything, but I just wanted to extend the invitation.

I guess you must be wondering who I am and everything. My name is Jennifer. I'm a high school senior in love with the BackStreet Boys. Okay, so now all of them, just one in particular. Nick Carter. He's so cute and seems so loveable even if people have said that he's changed since the group first started. I mean come on, who hasn't changed since then? Anyway, I live in Hawaii and have always had a dream to meet the BackStreet Boys. So have all of my friends. Especially Kim. She's been with me through this whole thing from the start.

"So have you heard from them yet?" Kim asked me, as we waited down at the bus ramp at our high school for our respective parents to pick us up.

"Nope," I replied, "I told you before. I don't expect to hear from them."

"Why not?" Kim asked, "I mean, you never know. Maybe they don't have anything to do on New Year's Eve."

"Highly unlikely," I said, "They're probably swamped with invitations."

"You never can tell," said Kim, "But if you hear from them today, page me."

"I know," I said, "Don't worry."

Kim's mom came then and she and her sister had to leave. My mom showed up about ten minutes later.

When I got home, there was a stack of mail waiting for me on my bed. I dropped my bag and grabbed the stack, hoping that there was something from the BSB. There was something from them, alright, but it was only an invitation to join the fan club, which I was already a member of. I tossed the rest of the mail onto my desk and went to go pick up my bag. I didn't have much hope left that they were going to respond personally because it had been about three months since I had written. The end of the year was coming closer and closer and my parents had already started making plans for New Year's.

I was sitting on my bed, doing my math homework when the phone rang. I wasn't planning to get it, but figured that I should, just in case it was one of the BackStreet Boys.

"Hello?" I asked, picking up the reciever.

"Hi," came Kim's voice, "What were you doing?"

"Nothing much," I said, "Just math homework. What's up?"

"Any mail for five certain guys on the mainland?" Kim asked.

"Nope," I said, "Well...not really. I got this thing inviting me to join the fan club, but that's no good since I already joined that. There was nothing else."

"Maybe tomorrow," said Kim.

"Yeah," I said, "You never know."

We talked for a while more and then I had to get off because if I didn't finish my homework, I'd be in big trouble the next day.
