Chapter 3

“Here,” he said pulling me closer. He put his hand on one side of my face and leaned in. He kissed me softly and pulled away after a few moments.

“Whoa,” AJ and Brian said together. We blushed when we realized the had been watching.

“AJ, Radio. Now.” I demanded.

“Yes ma’am,” he said flipping the radio on. Nick put his arm around me and at that moment, “Tell Me It’s Real,” by K-Ci and JoJo came on the radio. I looked up at Nick and we smiled at eachother. I laid my head on his shoulder and he softly kissed my forehead. We started singing it together, “Tell me it’s real, these feelings that we feel. Don’t let love come just to pass us by. Try, is all we have to do, to make this special love last forever more.”

“Aww, you guys are so cute,” AJ joked.

“Yep, sure are,” Brian agreed.

“There’s my house,” I said pointing it out to Brian.

“Ok,” he said pulling into my driveway. When Nick and I hopped out and headed for the door, AJ yelled, “ HEY! Basketball remember?”

“Tomorrow, I promise,” I replied. “Lets swim.”

“Cool!” Brian and AJ said.

“You guys can wear my dad’s old swimsuits.”

“Ok.”

While Brian and AJ goofed off in the pool, Nick and I sat in the hot tub and talked.

“The stars are beautiful,” I said looking up at the sky.

“Yeah they are.”

“I love to come out here and just look up at the stars and the moon for hours sometimes,” I smiled thinking of how peaceful it was at night.

“I wish I had the time to do stuff like that. It’s the little things like that, that make being so famous seem so bad,” Nick replied.

“Oh, come on. Millions of girls having your pictures plastered all over their walls, knowing as much as they could possibly know about you-even as much as what kind of underwear you wear-, can’t be all that bad.”

“It’s not terrible, but I miss being me sometimes. Wait a sec,” he said suddenly, “they know what kind of underwear I wear?” he asked surprised.

“Yeah,” I replied evenly.

“Do you know?” he asked curiously.

“Yeah,” I replied in the same monotone voice that I had before.

“YOU DO?!?!” he said shocked.

“Uhuh. Briefs”

“That’s weird!”

“Yep. That’s the life of a star.” He laughed when I said this.

“Hey Lins?” He asked suddenly.

“Yeah?”

“Why do you still live with your parents?”

“I’m still looking for a nice condo by the beach.”

“Oh..ok.”

“Kay,” I said returning my attention to the stars. “Hey, who’s opening for you guys on your US tour? I mean, if you aren’t having anyone good, then why should I even bother to buy a ticket?” I joked.

He pretended to be hurt, “You mean...seeing us...isn’t enough??” he pretended to cry.

“Aww, just because there’s one girl that doesn’t worship your every move doesn’t mean the rest of the world doesn’t like you.”

“You’re right. Why cry over 1 girl?”

“Hey!” I screamed.

“Just jokin!”

“Good! Anyways, who’s gonna be your opening acts?”

“Oh, we’re having 702 and we’re bringing Aaron back because the fans loved him so much last year.”

“Oh my gosh! No way! I LOVE Aaron! I have his Surfin’ USA CD with all the remixs and the full-length CD!”

“Really? Cool.”

“I guess he’s be worth seeing!” I teased.

“Yeah, cuz he’s so much better-looking than me,” he joked.

“Oh, of course!” I giggled. “Oh shoot. It’s getting really late...” I began.

“Yeah, we should go,” he finished.

“Wait, how are you getting home?”

“Oh yeah, we took your car.”

“I’ll take ya guys home, don’t worry ‘bout it.”

“Guys, we gotta go.” he said to AJ and Brian who were dunking eachother and hitting eachother with blow-up toys.

“Aww,” they whined.

“Now!” he demanded.

“Sheesh, you’re almost as bad as Kevin.”

“Come on guys,” he said laughing. We all got out and threw towels on.

“You guys go change. I’ll get my keys and I’ll be in the car.”

“Ok,” the all agreed as we walked into my house.

I threw some clothes on and grabbed my keys and license. I went to my car and was immediately joined by Nick. “Can I drive?”

I just smiled at him and clutched the keys tighter in my hand. “Aww come on...everyone else got a turn,” he whined.

“Fine...”

“Yes!” he shouted. I threw him the keys and he started the engine. AJ and Brian ran out and hopped in the back with a handful of cookies.

“Hey where’d you get those?” I asked.

“Your mom gave ‘em to us,” Brian said taking a bite.

“Mmmmm...yummy!” AJ said with his mouth full.

After about 15 minutes of driving, Nick said, “Just a few more minutes.”

All the condos we passed were huge. I examined every one until I saw one up ahead that was beautiful. “Ohmygod,” I rushed, “stop!” I screamed.

“LINDSEY? You ok?” he asked as the car came to a screeching halt.

“Yeah, fine.....LOOK!!” I said pointing to the condo.

“Uhuh,” AJ said slowly. “Old man Cramer lived there. I heard he died last week.”

“I LOVE it.”

“It’s for sale. You said you were looking for a condo on the beach; here ya go,” he said pointing towards it.

“Whoa, I have to have it,” I said in awe.

“I’ll take ya to the realtor tomorrow if you want,” AJ offered.

“Really?” I said excitedly.

“Sure.”

“Ok...thanks!”
