Chapter 17

Dear Diary,

Everything is going so perfect. Soon, Nick will forget all about Emma, and i will be there to comfort him. Emmalee believed that Nick cheated on her with me! I know that's all a lie. You see, I drugged Nick that day, so he was totally out of it for hours. So I contracted a photographer, and I made it look like Nick and I were engaged in a somewhat sordid action on Emma's part. Poor Nick had no clue what was coming to him. That had to be the most planned out and careful lie I have ever done. Well, not that I actually lied, because I didn't say a word, but those pictures aren't real. That drugging him idea was so good. Now, Nick and I will be together soon.

Love always,

Jenn

Jennifer closed her diary, and sighed happily. Everything was turning out perfect. She stood up, and stuffed her diary between the two mattresses. She then turned out the light, and went into a deep and satisfied sleep.

Emmalee lay in bed, not able to fall asleep. She sighed and turned once again. How could I have fallen for such an immature and young guy? That's totally not like me. That's what I get. This experience should teach me a lesson to never trust younger men. She finally decided to take some sleeping pills. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to fall asleep the whole night.

"Nick, come on, man. Got to bed! It's almost two in the morning! You're lucky we have tomorrow off!" Brian said grumpily. Nick wouldn't listen to him. He continued to play his N64. Brian sighed when Nick showed no signs of budging. He tried to fall back asleep.

Nick finally decided to go to sleep. He checked his watch. The clock read 3 AM. He rubbed his tired eyes, and turned off the N64. He fell on his bed, and turned out the light. Sleep was a long time in coming.

The next morning, Nick and Emma exited their rooms at the exact same time. They froze, staring at each other.

"Hello," Nick said, steeling himself. He didn't want to get hurt by her rejection again. But, amazingly, she was actually civil to him.

"Good morning, Nick." She had done a lot of thinking that morning, and she decided that being mad with him, and ignoring him was just going to be worse, so she decided to act normal around him.

Nick noticed the dark circles underneath her eyes. "You didn't sleep well?" he asked.

"No. Well, I gotta go," she said, closing her hotel room door, and walking away.

Nick sighed. He didn't know which was worse. Her being cold and indifferent towards him or her screaming at him and cursing at him. Doesn't matter anyway. The end result is the same, he thought, dejectedly. He closed his door, and walked down the hall toward the elevators.

"What's wrong with Nick, Brian? He's been acting weird all day long," Kevin asked. AJ, Howie, Kevin, and Brian were all eating lunch at a small restaurant not too far away from their hotel. Nick hadn't wanted to join them.

"Oh, he didn't tell you guys, huh? Well, it just happened yesterday. Emmalee broke up with him," Brian explained.

"Huh? Why?" AJ asked. Kevin stood quiet. He felt oddly pleased, even though he felt bad for Nick.

"Well, apparently, Emma saw some pictures with Nick and Jen in bed together, and that just totally pissed her off, and she broke up with him. He says the pictures are fake, and that he's gonna prove it," Brian continued, taking a long drink from his Sprite.

"How can those pictures be fake? It takes a long time to do that, and we've been here for a short time," Kevin said.

"Well, he said that Jen drugged him. That that had to be it," Brian said.

"Oh, well, I feel bad for him," Howie spoke up. They all nodded.

Nick saw Jen walk out of the hotel. This was his chance to act out his plan. He was going to search her room for any clues he could find. He quickly rushed to her hotel room, and used the card key that the girl at the front desk had supplied him with. Luckily, she was a fan of his, and he had persuaded her to give him the key to Jen's room in exchange for anything she wanted. She had only wanted a kiss on the cheek, a picture, and an autograph. She had promised that she wouldn't spread the word that they were staying there to her friends.

He entered Jen's room, and surveyed it. He didn't see anything at first sight, so he started at her night stand. He didn't find anything there after searching it for a couple of minutes. Then, he checked her drawers, dresser, bathroom, but found nothing. Defeatedly, he sat on her bed, and felt something sticking out from it jab at his leg. He stood up to see what had been the cause, and he saw what appeared to be a book sticking out from between the two mattresses. He took it out, and opened it. He almost jumped when he saw what it was. It was her diary. He turned to the last few pages, and found exactly what he was looking for. With a triumphant smile on his face, he exited her room.
