Chapter 18

Emmalee lay on her bed, thinking about Nick. She sighed. She still loved him. After all he had done to her, she still loved him. Just then, there was a knock on her door. She sighed again, groaning as she stood up. She walked slowly towards the door, and opened it. Nick was standing there, with a smile on his face. She rolled her eyes.

"What do you want, Nick?" she asked, leaning on the door.

"I have proof that I was telling the truth," he said. Emmalee jerked her head up.

"About what?" she asked, wanting to make sure they were both on the same wavelength.

"That I didn't cheat on you," he said.

"Okay, come in. This better not be a joke," she said.

"Of course it's not, Em. Okay, look at this," he said, holding up a book. He handed it to her, and she opened it. Her eyes widened when she saw what it was.

"You took Jen's diary?" she asked.

"Yeah, it was the only thing i could think of," Nick said. Emmalee flipped through the pages until she got to one of the last entries. She read everything about Jen's plan, and what she had done to Nick. Contrition filled Emma's heart. She felt so bad for not believing Nick.

"Oh, Nick," she said, before she threw herself into his arms, kissing him all over.

"I'm so sorry I didn't believe you, Nick," she said.

"It's okay, Em. I understand. I mean, who would have ever thought up of such a plan? It's very plausible," he said, smiling, and relieved that all this was over, even though it was just for a short time.

"I'm gonna tell that Jen off! I'm gonna-" Emma started. Nick put a finger to her lips.

"I have a better idea. Let me return the diary, she'll never know I took it and that you read it. So let's just get back together, and then she'll feel so stupid. Maybe then she'll stop trying to keep us apart," Nick said.

"Oh, that's the perfect idea. The most perfect," she said, before leaning in to kiss him one more time. She got out of his lap, and stood up.

"Return it now, just in case she comes back soon," she said. Nick nodded, and went to return the diary. When he went back to Emma's room, they decided to go out to eat a late lunch, since they both hadn't eaten all day.

Jen hummed, as she unlocked her room door. She was going to have to move in on Nick soon. She looked at her watch, and it said it was almost 8.

"I'll just order something from room service," she said to herself. "Then, I'll go talk to Nick." Jennifer changed her clothes, then ordered room service.

"Wow, it's so beautiful," Emma said, looking out into the ocean.

"Yeah, it is. We should be heading back. We gotta get up early tomorrow because we got sound check at 8, lunch with the manager, and then a concert afterwards," he said. Emma nodded, and they started to head back to the car.

"Damn, he's not there. Where could he be?" Jen asked, as she entered her room. "Well, I'll just have to wait until tomorrow. I'll talk to him then," she said, before laying down on her bed, and going to sleep.

"Hey, guys! What are you all doing here?" Nick asked, as he entered his room.

"Oh, just watching a basketball game. How come you're in such a good mood?" Brian asked.

"Well, because Emma and I got back together. I proved to her that I was telling the truth," he explained.

"Oh, that's so cool! Now we won't have to put up with your grouchiness," AJ teased.

"Shut up, Bone!" Nick said, laughing.

Damn! I'm never gonna have a chance, Kevin thought.
