Chapter 6

"Hey, guys! Guess what?" Nick said, entering the hotel room where all the guys had gathered to watch a movie. They all turned towards Nick.

"What?" they also said in unison. Nick smiled, and closed the door behind him.

"Emma and I are going out," he replied, flopping down on the bed. All the guys whipped their head in Nick's direction.

"Since when have you had a thing for Emmalee, Nick?" asked Brian.

"For a while now," Nick answered, concentrating on the blissful feeling that he had.

"How come you didn't tell us?" Howie asked.

"Because I thought you guys were gonna make fun of me, and that it would never happen," Nick responded, sitting up. Kevin just shook his head.

"You know she's 25. You're only 20. Aren't you a little bit too young for her?" Kevin asked.

"Look, if you're not happy for me, fine, but don't rub it in my face. Emma and I love each other, and age doesn't matter. Or so wasn't that what you said the other day, Kevin?" Nick said, standing up and parting himself from the group. He couldn't take criticism right now. He just felt too good to have it spoiled by some worthless comments. Kevin sighed.

"Well, yeah, that's what I said..." he trailed off, not knowing what to say. Now I'll never have a chance with Emma. I should have made my move sooner. But I don't think this will last. It can't. Emma needs a more mature guy, like me, Kevin thought. He knew he should be happy for Nick, but it was kind of hard when the girl that he's going out with, is the girl that you've been dying to go out with for the last couple of months, but didn't know how to tell her, because of the rejection that might have gone with it.

"I'm happy for you, Nick. I'm happy to see you normal again. That little problem you had was about Emma, wasn't it?" Brian inquired. Nick nodded.

"I'm happy for ya too, man. Our little Nicky's growing up!" AJ teased. Everyone laughed.

Jen entered the room quietly, and saw that Emma was still reading. Yeah, right. Like I didn't know what happened here earlier, she thought. Emma looked up and smiled.

"Oh, hey Jen," she greeted. Jen didn't even bother to smile.

"I know what you're trying to do and it won't work," Jen said.

"What are you talking about, Jen?" Emma asked, putting her book aside, and sitting up straighter on the bed.

"I know that you want Nick for yourself after I told you that I liked him. You couldn't stand it could you? You were too selfish, and decided to get him for yourself. You probably brainwashed him into liking you. Some friend you are. But don't worry, this doesn't end here. You're gonna pay for what you did to me," Jen said, anger flowing through her veins.

"Jen! It wasn't like that at all. I had started to have feelings for Nick before you even told me. And when he told me that he loved me, I just felt that I should tell him," Emma explained.

"Oh, save your pitiful excuses, Emmalee. As of now, we are no longer friends. In fact, we are enemies, 'cause I never want to talk to you again!" she said, before slamming out of the room.

Emma sighed. She had just lost the only friend that she had had on tour. Now I'm gonna be all alone, she thought. She sighed again, and decided to go to sleep. She had just developed a splitting headache.
