Chapter 1

"Hey Alyssa!" Nicole Brown greeted, meeting her best friend at the front of the school. Alyssa looked up from the floor, pushing up her glasses. She pasted a smile on her face, giving her best friend a quick hug before they entered the hell which was Westfield High School. It was their senior year and she wnated to make it different then the rest since it was her last year in high school, but so far nothing had changed.

Alyssa Parker walked quickly to her locker. Nicole's locker was a few feet away. Alyssa quickly put in her combination and opened up her lock. She shoved her bookbag in the locker, and took out her pre-calculus book. She grabbed her calculator and some pencils before slamming her locker door shut.

"I'll see ya later, Aly!" Nicole said, trying to find her book.

"Later, Nikki," Alyssa murmured, walking away briskly. She sighed once she had sat down in her assigned chair. She couldn't believe her luck this year. Mark Simmons sat directly beside her in this class. She had crushed on him all throughout high school but never had the nerve to go up to him and say hi. She knew she would never have a chance with him, because, as usual, the guys she fell for had to be unreachable.

What are you thinking, Alyssa? All the cute guys are unreachable for you. Because you're ugly. You'll never find a boyfriend. Least of all Mark Simmons, head quarterback for the Westfield football team, and the most popular guy in school, she thought, sneaking Mark a glance for the thousandth time this year. With his dark hair and blue eyes, tall frame and an overall perfect body, Mark was the cutest guy in school.

And he would never go out with a girl like me, Alyssa thought, turning her gaze back to the front where the teacher was trying to explain a math problem many didn't understand. Alyssa never worried about her grades. Because she knew that even if she didn't study or pay attention in class, she would always get an A. That was one of the reasons she was pegged as a nerd and an outcast in this school. She sighed, tuning out the teacher, and filling her thoughts with Mark.

"Tash! move a little to the right...that's it! Perfect!" the photographer crooned as he shot picture after picture in many different angles. Natasha posed and moved gracefully, careful to stay in the staged background.

That night, Natasha laid on her bed, thinking about how miserable her life was becoming. She remembered the excitement and the rush she got from modeling at first. It seemed glamorous and appealing. But after a while, she began to start getting tired of this hectic life. She wanted a normal life. A life that didn't include cameras and publicity. Even if it was for just a short while, because she definitely did not want to give up her career. She loved it, but she wanted a break. But she didn't know how she was going to accomplish that. There was just too many things to do, and too many people to see to take a break now or anytime soon. Natasha sighed, and turned her thoughts to her boyfriend. Kevin Danning. She was truly getting sick of him. He was too sweet and caring. And the worst thing about it was that he was truly that way. It wasn't just a front for the women. She wanted some more excitement in her relationship. Romance wasn't everything.

"I think I'm gonna have to break up with him. And soon. I know he loves me but I can't continue with him. He's boring me to death." She admitted that she had some feelings for Kevin, but not as strong as the ones he had for her, that's for sure. Kevin was also a model, and that's how she had met him in the first place. But she wanted something else.

To distract herself from these conflicting thoughts, she turned on the TV. She groaned when she saw they were giving a Backstreet Boys special.

"God, why is everything about them? I'm getting sick and tired of hearing them. Especially that wretched Nick Carter. Ugh! He is so annoying!" she said exasperatedly, turning the TV off. She decided that she would just take a nap. It had been a long and exhausting day. She wished things were different. But she thought they never would be.
