Chapter 19

"Aly, what's the matter? You've been quiet all day!" Nicole protested, as Natasha and her sat across from each other at lunch.

"Nothing's wrong, Nikki. I'm just tired, that's all," Natasha mumbled, picking at her food.

"Where's Mark? I haven't seen him all day," Nicole said.

"He's over there, with his friends, don't you see him?" Natasha said, looking down at her plate.

"Oh, yeah. So, listen, Aly, what do you wanna do this weekend?" Nicole asked, taking another bite from her sandwich.

"This weekend?" Natasha repeated, looking up with a clueless look on her face.

"Yeah. This weekend's is the first weekend of October, remember? We always go out on the first weekend of every month," Nicole said.

"Oh, yeah, I forgot," Natasha lied.

Alyssa didn't tell me anything about this, she thought.

"So what do you want to do?" Nicole questioned.

"How about we go to the Harvest Carnival? It's this weekend, isn't it?" Natasha said.

"Oh yeah! That's a great idea. So, you can pick me up at my house at around six, okay?" Nicole said.

"Yeah, okay," Natasha replied.

Only thing is, I have no clue where you live, Natasha thought.

"Great." Just then, the bell rang. They both stood up.

"See ya later, Aly!" Nicole said, walking away.

"Yeah. Bye," Natasha mumbled. She was trying to avoid Mark. After what had happened last Saturday night, she didn't think she could face him. He had called her, leaving messages, but she hadn't returned them. That morning, he had come up to her before school began, and she had quickly made up and excuse and left him. She had turned and looked back at him, and she felt so bad when she saw how hurt he looked. She just couldn't believe she had given up the most important thing in her life. She didn't blame him, because she hadn't protested, but she had been so turned on by him, that all she had been thinking of was him.

When the last bell of the day rang, Natasha quickly walked up to her locker, grabbing her books quickly, so she wouldn't bump into Mark.

"Hey."

Shit, I'm outta luck, Natasha thought. She slammed her locker closed, and decided she had to face him sooner or later. After all, he was her boyfriend. She put a smile on her face.

"Hey," she said, looking up at Mark. The smile quickly dissipated when she saw the pained look in his eyes.

"Alyssa, I know something's wrong, and you have to tell me. Did I do something? If so, I'm really sorry, I didn't mean it," Mark said quietly.

"No," Natasha responded.

"No what? Please, Aly, tell me what's wrong! After Saturday night, you haven't been the same with me. You didn't want to be with me? Is that it? Or you didn't like it? Tell me, please," he pleaded. She sighed.

"No, you were great, Mark. It's just that...I really wasn't ready for it," Natasha whispered.

"What? Then why didn't you tell me? I definitely wouldn't have pressured you. I love you, Aly," Mark said.

"I know I didn't stop you, but that's because I wasn't thinking. But it was great. Really," she said. She pulled him into her arms, and put her arms around his waist. "I love you too, Mark." She leaned up, and placed her lips over his gently.

"I'm so relieved. I thought that you didn't love me anymore," Mark said. Natasha's heart melted. He was so sweet and vulnerable.

"Of course I do. I always will," she said.

"What are you doing this weekend?" Mark asked.

"I'm going with Nicole to the Harvest Carnival. Wanna come?" Natasha asked.

"Sure!" Mark replied.

They walked out of the school, his arm around her shoulders. She was glad that they had resolved their little conflict.
