Chapter 2

"Alyssa! Hurry up! We don't have all day!" Coach Wilson barked. Alyssa hurriedly pulled up her sweatpants, and in her rush, slipped and fell hard onto the floor. It was mid-June, but she still wore long pants and shirt. She didn't want to show her legs.

She ran towards where the rest of the girls where, snickering. She lowered her head in humiliation. Everyone was laughing at her except Nicole.

I can't believe anyone could have a life like this. I will never be accepted. Never, Alyssa thought, feigning sick, a while later. She ran into the girl's locker room, and locker herself in a stall. Only then did she allow the tears to flow.

"Hey, Tash," Kevin Danning said, putting his arms around Natasha from behind, planting a kiss on her neck. Tasha half turned.

"Oh, hey, Kev. What's up?" she greeted, kissing him back.

"Oh, nothing. I have another job at four to do. Wanna meet up after it, and go to a restaurant for dinner? I was thinking Star's Restaurant," he suggested.

"Oh, sure, Kevin, that'll be great." Well, not for you anyway. Tonight has to be the night I break up with you. I have to do it, Natasha thought. But she knew it was going to be hard. She wasn't even sure if she would be able to pull it off. He was just too sweet and didn't deserve to be hurt.

"Okay, great. I'll pick you up about eight?" he questioned, kissing her mouth softly, his light brown hair falling over his beautiful hazel eyes.

"Uh, yeah, that will be great, Kev, I'll see you then." He kissed her thoroughly before giving her his beautiful smile and walking away.

Natasha sighed. This was going to be so hard. What would she do?

"Hey, Aly, wait up!" Nicole shouted, trying to catch up to Alyssa. When she finally did, she grabbed onto Alyssa's arm, panting.

"Whoa! Why are you walking so fast? I've been trying to catch up to you forever!" Nicole protested, her black hair shining in the light.

"I know, I'm sorry, but I'm just too embarrassed at the moment. I feel as if everyone know what a fool I am," Alyssa said.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. We're a couple of outcasts," Nicole agreed. They had already reached the parking lot where Alyssa had parked her car.

"Want a ride hom, Nik?" Alyssa offered, unlocking her door.

"Oh no it's okay, Aly. Another day. My dad's waiting for me over there, see?" Nicole pointed. Alyssa nodded when she saw Mr. Brown.

"I'll call you tonight, okay?" Nicole said, shifting her bookbag from one shoulder to the other.

"Oh, no, you can't. My parents are taking me to some new restaurant that just opened up. It's supposed to be really nice and fancy. You know how they are when it comes to new restaurants," Alyssa explained.

"Yeah. So, I'll see ya tomorrow, okay? Buh-bye!" Nicole walked away towards her dad's car.

Alyssa started the engine, and eased out of the parking lot and into the street. She sighed. She really didn't want to go to the restaurant. Maybe she could get out of going.
