Chapter 6

Alyssa decided that she was going to have to risk whatever it was that was on her plate, because she was extremely hungry.

How do I break up with him? I've never had to do that before. And anyway, he is a really nice guy...

"Tash? What's up? You've hardly said a word since you came back," Kevin said softly, reaching across the table for her hand. She snatched it away without thinking.

Oh, great. Now he's definitely gonna know that something's wrong.

"Natasha, tell me what's wrong. Why did you pull away from me?" Kevin said, hurt. Alyssa decided that was her chance to break up with him.

"Um, you see, Kevin. Uh..." she started.

"What is it?" Kevin pressured.

"I want to break up with you. I'm sorry," Alyssa finished. She met Kevin's incredulous gaze. Shock and hurt were written all over his face.

"What? Is this some kind of game, Natasha. Please say it is," Kevin said softly, his eyes watering.

He's such a sensitive and sweet guy. Why wouldn't Natasha want him? Oh well, too late now.

"No, Kevin. I'm sorry. I...I just don't love you anymore," Alyssa blurted out.

Man, what have I gotten myself into?

"I can't believe you, Natasha. How can you say that after all we've been through together?"

"I"m sorry, just take me home," Alyssa said, pushing away her plate.

"Fine. Let's go." Kevin's eyes turned hard. He abruptly stood up, and took out his wallet. He pulled out a hundred dollar bill and threw it down on the table. Alyssa stood up, and followed him out of the restaurant.

Man, it's true. Money can buy everything. Otherwise, I wouldn't be participating in such a crazy scheme.

"Mom, can we go now? I'm really tired," Natasha said. She definitely was not going to eat that food. She had seen Kevin storm off with Alyssa right behind him, which meant that Alyssa had broken up with him. She heaved a sigh of relief. She was so happy that she didn't have to do it herself. In fact, she didn't think she would be able to do it.

"But, Alyssa, you've barely touched your food!" Mrs. Parker exclaimed.

"I'm not hungry anymore, I just wanna go now."

"Okay, we can leave." Mr. Parker signaled the waiter, who rushed right over.

"Our check, please," Mr. Parker said.

"Of course, I'll be right back with your check." The waiter scurried off.

A few hours later, Alyssa lay on the enormous king sized bed with huge pillows. She sighed and snuggled more deeper into the covers.

"This is a pig sty!" Natasha exclaimed when she opened the door to 'her' room.

"Uh...why should that surprise you, Alyssa, you're the one who lives in it," Mrs. Parker said, walking out of the bathroom.

"Oh...yeah. I know, I just forget how messy I am at times," Tash lied. "Well, I'm gonna go to bed now, Goodnight, Mom." She quickly stepped into the room, and locked the door behind her. She decided to clean up the room. She refused to sleep in a room that looks like it's been lived in by animals.

"Oh, my God!" Alyssa exclaimed the next morning, as she read the morning newspaper. The front page story was about her and Kevin. Or rather, Natasha and Kevin.

"How do people find out these things so quick? This only happened last night, for Pete's sake!" she said.

Dora Parkins, Natasha's assistant, entered the kitchen.

"Good morning, Ms. Williams. I see that you've read the newspaper. And I also see that you're breaking your diet. You told me that if I ever saw you cheating to take the food away," Dora said, walking up to the kitchen counter where Alyssa sat.

"No way! I'm eating whatever I want. To hell with the stupid diet I was on, I don't know what I was thinking," Alyssa said. She was definitely not going to eat what she had found in the refrigerator.

"Okay, Ms. Williams. You better get going, your driver is waiting for you in the limo downstairs," Dora said.

"For what?" Alyssa questioned.

"Don't you remember? The photo shoot that you have in half an hour."

"Oh, my God!" Alyssa cried for the second time that day. Natasha didn't tell me about this. In fact, she barely told me anything at all! How am I supposed to pull this off? I don't know how to model! Alyssa thought.

"What's wrong, Ms. Williams?" Dora questioned.

"Stop with the Ms. Williams already okay? Sheesh!" Alyssa hopped off the kitchen stool and walked out of the kitchen.

I have a long day ahead of me, Alyssa thought wearily.
