Chapter 3

"I can't belieeeeve you're going out with Nick Carter! He is so hot!" Denise gushed, running after Dani while she got dressed that Saturday night.

"Yeah well, I couldn't as well have said no. That would've been rude," Dani muttered, looking through her closet.

"God, you are so ungrateful! Here you get asked out by the most gorgeous guy in America and you might have said no! I would've been more appreciative!" Denise whined. Dani was getting irritated. She wirled around and glared at Denise.

"Why would you care? You have a frigging boyfriend! Look, Den, just leave me alone while I try to decide what to wear, will you?"

"But listen, I've got this great idea!" Denise urged.

"Tell me some other time." Dani pushed Denise out of her room and closed the door. She sighed and headed back to her closet to decide what to wear.

An hour later, Dani was ready. She had decided on a pair of tight black pants, and a spaghetti strapped light blue top. She walked down the stairs, and decided to wait for Nick in the living room. It was almost seven, the time they had agreed he would come pick her up.

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang.

"Ooooh I'll get it!" Michelle, her younger sister shouted, all the way from her room. She flew down the stairs, and came to a halt in front of the door. Denise had filled Michelle in on her date with Nick Carter before she left for her own date with Dan, her boyfriend.

"Suit yourself," Dani replied, slowly standing up, preparing herself for the long night that was ahead of her.

Just one date won't hurt, she thought to herself.

Michelle flung open the door, a bright smile on her face. She looked up into the face of one of her favorite stars. She acted cool.

"Hi. I'm Michelle, Dani's sister," she said, her hands shaking, and her eyes wide.

"Hey, Michelle," he greeted, warmly. Dani walked up to the door and smiled at Nick. She had to admit, he was pretty hot.

"You look beautiful, Dani," he complimented.

"Thanks. See ya later, Michelle." She closed the door behind her and followed Nick down the front yard.

"So where are we headed?" Dani asked, after they were in the car. Nick pulled out of her driveway.

"I was thinking we could go to a club and dance! What do you think?" he asked, glancing over at her.

"Sounds good...but....I'm not 21, you know," she replied. He looked surprised.

"You're not? How old are you, anyway?" he asked.

"I'm 20. you?" she inquired.

"I turned 22 in January," he replied. "But hey, don't worry about it, I know the bouncer. He'll let us in."

"Okay..." Of course he would know the bouncer. He probably goes there every weekend with a different girl every time, she thought.

A little while later, they reached the club. It was packed. There was a line that went around the corner.

"Oh, my God," she breathed. She didn't want to be in line for the rest of the night. Nick laughed. He put on his sunglasses and a hat.

"Don't worry, Dani, we're not going in line."

"Thank God," she said, relieved.

Once they were settled in the club, in a booth seat, Nick ordered a drink.

"What do you want, Dani?" he asked her.

"Oh, I don't drink. Mineral water, please," she told the waiter.

Oh God, he drinks, too? she thought. Alcohol had always disgusted her.

"Oh, okay. In that case, I'll have a mineral water too instead of what I asked for," Nick told the waiter, who nodded and left.

"You didn't have to do that, you know," she stated, coldly. She crossed her arms. She wished she had stayed home.

"No, it's okay. If you don't drink, I won't drink. It's no problem," he replied, looking into her eyes. "So, you wanna dance?"

"Sure," she replied. They stood up and walked towards the dance floor. He grabbed her hand, and started moving. She was a very good dancer, so she danced confidently. They danced for a while before going back to their table. They drank the water the waiter had left for them.

They danced the rest of the night, and when they left the club, Dani had to admit that she had fun.

"So, did you have fun tonight?" Nick asked her when he had pulled up to her house.

"Yeah, I had a great time," she replied, honestly.

"Great, me too. So...you wanna go out again sometime soon?" he asked her.

"Sure, Nick, that'd be cool," she said. He leaned over and planted a soft kiss on her cheek.

"I'll see you later."

"Bye, Nick." She stepped out of the car and slammed the door.

She was still hesitant about their next date once she had reached her bedroom, because just because she had had one fun night with him, that didn't mean that she liked him. It didn't mean much. Right?
