Chapter 18

Nick slowly came out of his sleep when he heard the creaking of his door opening. He opened his eyes, thinking that it must be Bonnie. But something was wrong. It couldn't be Bonnie. Bonnie was lying right next to him, and she awoke too at the sound of the door creaking open. She rubbed her eyes.

"Nick, is that you?" she whispered, not noticing that Nick was right next to her.

"Umm...no, I'm right here, baby," Nick replied, his heart starting to beat loudly. Startled, Bonnie opened her eyes, and looked towards the door. There in the shadows, stood a man. She gasped when she recognized who it was. It was Andrew.

"Oh, my God. It's Andrew," Bonnie said, moving closer to Nick, tears forming in her eyes. She should have known that life wouldn't turn out so perfect after all.

"Andrew." Nick spoke but that single word. Shock and fear radiating through his body when he saw Andrew take out a gun and aimed it at them.

"Why, hello there, Bonnie, and Nick, is it? I've been waiting for this for a long time, and everything's going to turn out just perfect, the way I'd planned." Andrew stepped further into the room, and turned on the lights. Bonnie and Nick shielded their eyes from the bright glare.

"Andrew, how did you find me?" Bonnie whispered hoarsely, the tears were running freely down her cheeks. There was nothing to save them now. It was all going to be over pretty soon.

"Oh, that was easy. I put a tracker on your suitcase. Good thing you didn't get a new one, isn't it?" Andrew said, with a cruel laugh. "Stand up."

Bonnie and Nick stood up from the bed. Nick grabbed his t-shirt, and put it on. He pulled Bonnie into his arms protectively.

"What do you want from her? From us?" Nick asked, trying to stall to think of a way to try to get them out of this mess.

"Oh, I just wanted Bonnie, until you came along. You should regret the day you ever fell in love with that slut over there," Andrew said.

Nick's anger flared. "Don't talk about her that way," he said, pulling Bonnie a little closer to his side. Bonnie stood quiet, burying her head into Nick's shoulder, not wanting to believe that her worst nightmare was coming true.

"Don't tell me what to do, or you'll regret it, pretty boy! I do what I want, when I want, you hear me?" Andrew said, turning red. "Let go of her."

Nick shook his head. "No. I won't let go of her," he whispered. Bonnie looked up, her tear streaked face paling. Andrew walked over to them, and grabbed Bonnie forcefully by the arm, yanking her out of Nick's arms. He then took the butt of the gun and smacked it into Nick's head. Nick fell soundlessly to the floor. Bonnie gasped.

"You bastard! What the hell is wrong with you? It's me you want, not him!" she cried, trying to free herself from his grasp.

"Stop it, or it will go worse for the both of you! I'll torture Nick so bad! I'll shoot him over and over again. But not to kill him, but to make him suffer! So stop!" Andrew said. Bonnie stopped struggling immediately. She didn't want that to happen.

"What are you going to do with us?" Bonnie asked quietly. She wrapped her arms around her middle.

"Oh, I just want to kill the both of you, but I want to entertain myself a little first," he replied, turning Bonnie over in his arms. He kissed her hard on the mouth. Bile rose in Bonnie's throat, she pushed him away.

"Oh, you want it like that, huh? I'll give you one last chance! If you want to save your lover's life, you better do as I ask," Andrew said, walking over to Nick and kicking him hard in the side over and over again. Bonnie couldn't stand it.

"All right, all right! Stop it! Stop hurting him! He didn't do anything to you. I'll do what you want," she said, choking on her sobs. Andrew smiled.

"Good. I knew you'd see it my way," he said, and stopped kicking Nick, who had opened his eyes, groaning.

Oh, God, please help us! I can't bear to see Nick hurting because of me, she thought, anguished.

Andrew walked over to Bonnie, and started kissing her again, but this time Bonnie didn't protest. She saw the pain in Nick's eyes, and what this was doing to him. She saw him trying to sit up, but failed miserably. His head pounded, and his side ached badly. He groaned again as a blinding pain shot through his head, as if he had been shot.

"Bonnie," he choked out, in a very low voice. Neither heard him. Bonnie had turned her head. Andrew had stopped kissing her. He started to hit her hard, first in the head, then in the stomach, over and over. Nick couldn't take it. He mustered all of his strength, and stood up, swaying as a wave of dizziness went through him. He walked towards Andrew who had his back toward him, and pulled him off of Bonnie, who was screeching in pain. Nick punched Andrew in the face as hard as he could. When he became off guard, Nick grabbed the gun from Andrew's hand, and pointed it at him. When Andrew had regained his composure, he stood rimrod straight.

"Well, well, well. So this isn't turning out as I expected. At all," Andrew said to himself. He slowly raised his hands into the air. Damn! Of all the rotten luck! he thought to himself. What am I gonna do now? I should have planned this out a little better.

"So, now who's in control, huh, you bastard? Get away from her! Bonnie, come over here," Nick said, getting red. Bonnie quickly got away from Andrew, and ran into Nick's arms.

"So, what are we gonna do about him?" Bonnie whispered.

"Call the police," Nick responded. Andrew panicked.

"Oh, damn, please don't call the police. I promise to get out of your life forever, Bonnie. But please! It would ruin my career, if I had a police report," Andrew plead, looking sincere. Bonnie wavered for a second. I can't believe I feel a little bit sorry for this pig! she thought.

"No, sorry. After all Bonnie has gone through because of you, you will definitely not get off the hook. She's been through hell because of you. You tried to kill her, and you think I'm going to stand here and let you walk away from here? I don't believe that you would leave her alone, anyway. You need to go where you belong. And that's jail," Nick said, angry that he would even suggest to walk away. Nick turned to Bonnie. "Call the police, baby, they need to get here." Bonnie nodded, and walked towards the phone on Nick's bedside table. She reached for the phone, and dialed 911. She explained the situation.

"Nick, what's the address?" she asked. Nick gave her the address, and Bonnie repeated it to the operator. She hung up a minute later. "They'll be here in a few minutes." Bonnie walked back to Nick.

Oh, God, everything's over. All over. How am I gonna get me out of this? How? he thought, frantically trying to come up with a solution, but didn't find any. He slumped in defeat. His life would be over. He sat down on the bed, the gun still pointed at his chest. When he felt something uncomfortable digging into his back. But of course, how could he have forgotten? There was a chance to save himself after all. But he had to act quick, before the cops came. He had forgotten that he had stuffed a rather long knife in his back, in its protective covering so it wouldn't hurt him. He thought quickly on how he was going to use that knife to his advantage.
