Chapter 3

Bonnie lay in bed that night, thinking about Nick. He was really an incredible person. No guy had ever been that nice to her. She was so happy that she had at least one person to talk to in the lonesome place. California was really very beautiful...if you had someone to share it with. Not if you're alone.

"Should I call my parents?" Bonnie asked. She hadn't talked to them in a very long time, and she missed talking to them a lot, but she didn't want to risk that Andrew had tapped her phone. She sighed. She had absolutely no life now. She wished that Andrew didn't exist. She turned in her bed and stared at the clock. It read 1:00 AM. It was 10:00 at home. She had such an urge to call her friends. But she didn't. She finally drifted off into a troubled sleep.

As Nick was watching some weird show, he thought about Bonnie. She was so sweet and nice.

"She shouldn't be going through this," Nick whispered.

"Whatcha say, Frack?" Brian asked, looking up from the TV, and to his best friend.

"Oh, nothing, Bri, just thinking out loud," Nick said. Brian nodded and turned back to the TV. It was almost 2:00 AM, but since they had the day off tomorrow, they were staying up late. Except for Howie and Kevin, who had already fallen asleep in their rooms. AJ was in some club near the waterfront. Nick started to feel sleepy a half hour later, and decided to go to sleep. He hoped that Bonnie called him the next day. He really looked forward to it. Nick stood up from the sofa, and stretched.

"Bri, I'm going to go to bed. I'm getting sleepy, I'm going to bed. See ya tomorrow," Nick said, walking to his room. The rest of the band was staying in his parents house during the time they had to be in California, because Nick's family had gone on a vacation to Hawaii, and they said that they could all crash here, instead of spending money on hotel expenses.

"Okay, Nick, g'night," Brian said.

Nick walked up to his room, closed the door, and fell down on the bed, immediately falling asleep.

The next morning, Bonnie got up, and dressed. She decided to eat breakfast in the hotel restaurant. When she went to the lobby, her heart almost dropped to the floor in shock. There stood Andrew. She closed her eyes, trying to keep herself upright. When she reopened them, Andrew had disappeared.

"Was I dreaming? Was it really him? How could he have found me? No, it's not possible. It couldn't have been him," Bonnie reasoned, making her way towards the restaurant. She shook off every thought she had of Andrew.

"Nick, why are you waiting by the phone? Are you gonna stay there all day hoping it would ring? Who is gonna call you, bro?" AJ asked, sitting in the couch, in the living room.

"Yeah, Frack, he's right. Who's gonna call you?" Brian put in. He was lying down on the other sofa, with his legs crossed at the ankles, looking intently at his best friend.

"Well...I kinda met this girl last night. She didn't seem to recognize me, and we had such a great conversation, so I gave her my number and told her to call me. I feel really attracted to her," he said.

"Ahh, so that's it. Nicky's got a new girlfriend," AJ said smiling, putting his attention back on his TV show.

"I do not! I just met her yesterday!" Nick said defensively.

"Might be, but she still got you tied up, didnt' she?" AJ responded.

"Oh just shut up, Bone! I'm gonna go upstairs to play some video games," Nick said, desperately trying to get away from the teasing. Because he was afraid AJ was right...

Bonnie was sitting next to this girl named Emily Payton, whom she had met at the restaurant, and were now sitting together at the table. The restaurant had been packed, and Bonnie had asked if she could sit there. They had started talking, and were quickly becoming friends. Emily was on vacation. She was planning to stay here for a month. They were both the same age, and Emily was originally from North Carolina. Not too far away from Florida.

"Listen, Emily, I gotta go now, but can you call me later on? Maybe we could do something later. My room number is 745, okay?" Bonnie said, standing up.

"Sure, Bonnie. See ya later!" Emily said, sipping at her Coke.

Bonnie gave a little wave, and walked away, heading towards the elevators.

When she was safely in her room, Bonnie debated whether to call Nick or not.

"He probably forgot about me," she thought. "But I'm gonna try anyway. There's nothing to lose, right?" she said, walking over to the closet, where her pants were. She took the piece of paper out of the pocket, and walked over to the phone. She quickly dialed the number, and let it ring.

Nick dove towards the phone, dropping the controls of the game, and hoping that it was Bonnie. He cleared his throat before picking up the phone.

"Hello?" Nick said into the receiver, his heart thumping.

"Hey, Nick. Remember me? It's Bonnie." Her sweet voice penetrated his very soul.
