Jessica lay in her bed, thinking about Nick. She hadn't seen him after that afternoon, when she'd seen him going out with Melissa Jones. Jessia sighed, and turned on her side, willing herself to fall asleep, but knew that sleep was far away.
She jumped when she heard her door creak open. She looked opened her eyes to see who was at the door and saw Nick enter her bedroom. She pretended to be asleep. He walked to her bed and sat down.
"Jess!" Nick whispered. He gently shook her. "Jess, wake up."
Jessica decided not to try and ignore him, since it would be futile. He would know that she was trying to avoid him for some reason. She opened her eyes.
"Hey, sweetie," Nick said, when she opened her eyes. She sat up and just looked at him. "What's wrong?" he asked. He sounded so concerned and so sweet.
Yeah, but it could all be part of him using me, Jessica thought. She took a deep breath.
"Nick, why did you go out with Melissa Jones this afternoon?" she asked, crossing her arms.
"Oh, baby, don't worry about that. You know how my mom gets sometimes, and she practically made me go out with her, but it was only coffee, I promise." Nick looked her deep in the eyes. "You believe me, right?" he asked. Jessica slowly nodded.
"Yeah, I do. Oh, Nick, I thought that I had lost you," Jessica cried, throwing herself into his arms.
"Don't worry about that, sweetheart. That'll never happen. We'll always be together, okay?" Nick kissed her softly. "Now, I better get going back before my mom wakes up and finds me gone, okay, love? I'll talk to you tomorrow. Goodnight," Nick said, kissing her one last time.
"Goodnight," Jessica whispered. She smiled. Now she could get to sleep in peace. Nick quietly exited the room, and closed the door quietly behind him.
Jessica closed her eyes, and this time, she was asleep in five minutes.
