Chapter 11

"Nick...the baby's yours," Jenn whispered, wanting to scream and shout for joy but didn't.

"Really? Are you serious?" He snatched the results from her hands, and saw for himself that the baby she was carrying was indeed his.

"Yes! The baby's mine! We have so much to plan! So many things to do-" Nick abruptly stopped, remembering the surprising events that had taken place not too long ago.

"Well, that means that we're gonna stay together, Jen. But I don't know if I'm going to be able to trust you. You hurt me once, I don't want you to do it again. My heart isn't something you're gonna play around with, you understand? I'm not gonna take another one of your little games. If you do it again, I swear, our relationship will be over so fast, your head will be spinning. And I will take the baby from you. I know that may sound cruel, Jen, but it's the only thing that I can do to guarantee your fidelity." He sighed, debating whether or not to say what he was going to say next. He decided he would. "Look, Jen, I still love you. I dunno why, after what you did to me, but I still love you, and I'm willing to try this one more time if you are," Nick said.

"Of course I am, Nick! I love you so much! All those things with Brian were just a mistake, please believe me!" Jenna pleaded. Nick turned to Jenna.

"Okay, Jen, I believe you. I know I let you off the hook easily, 'cause I know if I were the one who had cheated on you, you would have sent me packing, but I love you too much to let you go, Jen, so please don't hurt me again," Nick said. Jen reached across the car and hugged Nick.

"I won't, I promise! I love you," she said. She kissed his neck softly, trailing tiny kisses until her lips reached his mouth, and they started to kiss heavily. Nick's arms wrapped around hers gently.

After a few minutes, they broke apart, and they left the parking lot. They reached their house, and Nick told Jen to go rest. When Jenna was sleeping, Nick picked up the phone and dialed Brian's number.

"Hello?" Brian said, after the second ring.

"Hello, Brian," Nick greeted coldly.

"Oh...hey, Nick...did you take Jen to the doctor's?" he asked anxiously.

"Yes, we did. We know who the baby's father is," Nick said, coldness still in his voice.

"Well, who is it?" Brian asked, desperately.

"The baby's...mine, Brian. So sorry to disappoint you, but the baby turned out to be mine. So I don't wanna hear from you again. We're going to have a business relationship and that's it. Apart from the Backstreet Boys, we're nothing, do you understand? Goodbye, Brian." Nick hung up the phone.

"Nick-" Brian started, but heard the dial tone, and also hung up the phone, and sighed. He really wanted that baby to be his, secretly hoping that Jenna would marry him because of the baby, but everything had turned against him. And not only that, he had just lost his best friend. How much worse could things get in my life? Brian thought. He grabbed his basketball, and went to the hotel basketball court, hoping that playing baskeball could make him stop thinking about all his problems.
