Chapter 3

Nick opened his eyes, and felt the bed for Jenna. To his surprise, she wasn't beside him. He looked at the clock on the bedside table, which read 11:30. He yawned, and got out of bed, and stretched. He headed to the bathroom, and took a quick shower.

A little while later, when he was dressed, he went downstairs to find Jenna on the couch. Nick frowned.

"What is she doing here?" he whispered to himself, as he walked towards her, and sat beside her. He gently took her hair out of her face. He softly shook Jenna.

"Jenna...wake up, baby." He shook her a little harder when she didn't show any signs of awakening.

Jenna slowly came into the world of consciousness. All the memories from last night flooding back. She turned her head, and saw Nick above her. She felt so guilty, she thought it was going to eat her alive, and that Nick could see right through her. She smiled weakly.

"Hey, baby. What happend? Did you fall asleep here?" Nick questioned. Jenna took the excuse. She nodded slowly.

"Yeah, I must have fallen asleep," Jenna lied. She sat up, and moved her head around, trying to soothe her neck ache.

"Well, I'm gonna go over to Brian's. I told him that he could come over here a little later, but I gotta go beat him at a basketball game first," Nick said, smiling. Jenna tried to smile as well, but stopped when she heard that Brian was coming over.

"What? Brian can't come over," she said, slipping. What had she gotten herself into now? Nick's head whipped her way.

"Why not, Jen?" he asked, perplexed. She couldn't come up with any good excuse.

"Oh, I was just playing. Of course Brian can come over. Are you gonna eat breakfast?" she asked.

"Nah, I'll grab something at Bri's. Bye, babe," he said, leaning down and kissing her on the mouth. The guilt rose even more.

When Nick had left, she lay back on the sofa.

"Oh, God, what am I gonna do? I have feelings for Brian. But I can't. I have to make them go away...I'm married to Nick now. I have to forget about Brian. I just have to," she said, before standing up, and heading upstairs to take a shower.

A couple hours later, Nick and Brian entered Nick's house. Jenna sat in the kitchen, eating a sandwich. They walked straight into the kitchen to grab some drinks. Brian stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Jenna and how beautiful she looked. Jenna looked up and locked eyes with Brian. She forced a smile on her face.

"Hey, Brian. What's up?" she said. She stood up from the chair and walked over to Brian, and gave him a quick hug. Otherwise, Nick would have gotten suspicious. Brian held on a second too long, and she had to push him away. Fortunately, Nick hadn't noticed.

"I'm all right. You?" he asked, looking deep into her eyes, seeing the guilt and regret from what they had done the previous night. He almost sighed. He didn't want her to regret what had happened between them, but what could he expect from a married woman. A woman married to his own best friend.

Jenna kissed Nick on the mouth. "What are you guys gonna do?" she asked.

"We're gonna go play some Mario Kart. I'm gonna run to the store to buy some more junk food. Looks like we're out. I'll be back in a little while." Nick soon was out of the house, once again leaving Brian and Jenna alone.

"Jenna, I'm really sorry about last night. I dunno what got into me," Brian started, looking down at the floor.

"Don't worry about it, Bri. It's okay. It's all in the past. Let's just not think about it anymore, okay?" Jenna said.

Brian sighed. It appeared as if he were on automatic, because his body wasn't responding to his mind. He was soon standing in front of Jenna. He grabbed her arms, and crushed her to his chest, devouring her mouth with his kisses. Jenna didn't stop him either. She was apparently enjoying it as well.

She got as close to him as possible, running her fingers through his hair, forgetting for that moment that she was married. She just thought of how great it was to be kissing this man. This good-looking, and very sexy man.

"Jenna...Jen, I love you," Brian murmured, raining light kisses down her neck, his hands moving up and down her back. She broke their connection. Her eyes filling with tears.

"Bri, what are we doing? Why are we doing this? Nick would be so crushed if he found out," Jenna cried.

"Jenna...I've loved you from afar for as long as I've known you. I never got you. Instead Nick did. I just want a little piece of you, even if it's wrong. Please. What Nick doesn't know won't hurt him," Brian said.

"Brian! How could you talk like that about your best friend?" Jenna exclaimed.

"You know I love Nick. But wanting to share you doesn't mean that I don't love him. It just means that I want to share you with him. Please? Don't you feel anything when you kiss me?" Brian asked.

"Well...yes, Bri, I do!" she admitted. "But I know it's wrong, and that we shouldn't be doing it."

"But Jen, don't you wanna experiment and see what's it like? How's it gonna be? How we would be together?" Brian pushed, desperately trying to convince her. If she didn't agree, he would lose her forever, and there would be nothing he could do about it.

Jenna did agree with Brian. She did want to experiment. She wanted to see what it's like. She decided to agree with him, and see him. A love affair...I've always wondered what that would be like, she thought. "All right, Brian. We can see each other," she finally said.

Brian was so elated. He grabbed Jenna, and kissed her hard on the lips.
