The 15th Month

Cathy & Connie's Journal
February 1998

Hello again. This is been a month of sick children for us here. Both of my boys had URIs. And Connie had a slight case of the flu. I just hate runny noses. I've had to walk around with pockets full of tissues, and baby wipes. Why the baby wipes, you ask? After nursing a runny nose baby, I need to have something to wipe my breast clean!

Connie is 15 months old now. She is nursing 3 times a day, sometimes more. She always nurses in the morning, then eat breakfast about a hour later. It works better this way for mommy. I can nurse Connie while, I am helping my boys get dressed for school. After the boys are at school, Connie and I have eggs, or pancakes, or cereal for the solid parts of our breakfast. I let her nurse during the day if we are not out shopping. If we are out running, I give her milk in a cup or a fruit for a snack. She eats a sandwich of meat and cheese for lunch and sometimes nurses. She eats whatever the rest of us are eating for dinner but doesn't ask to nurse after dinner. I still find that if I'm at home she wants to nurse before bed. But lucky, for my husband, if I'm not home she will go to bed without nursing. Connie has never used a bottle, but last week when I was cleaning out the attic she found a bottle. She has been carrying it around for a couple of days. She hasn't put it in her mouth, she just carries it around. She looks for funny with it, she thinks it a TOY.

In the last month, Connie is starting to really request new needs and wants. She really loves to go outside. She will walk over to the coat rack, get her coat, bring it to daddy, mommy, or one of her brothers and say "ON, ON". After it's on, she walks to the door. It's so cute, but has it's problems. Try explaining to a 15 month old that it's too cold, or it's raining, or it's to dark. Connie is also trying to repeat our words too. She is just growing up to fast for me lately.

Well, that's it for this month.
