The 25th Month
Laura & Jodie's Journal
June 1998

At twenty-five months, our little Miss Jodie is definitely two...terribly two as we call it.

She is asserting her independence and will in virtually aspect of her life, including in our breastfeeding relationship. She still nurses on average three to four times a day but there have been a couple of days this past month where she will not ask for mommy milk at all until bedtime.

She also, for the first time, has developed a preference for one side. "Not dat side, Mommy!! Dis side!", is what she will tell me.

A pox descended upon our household this month...the chicken pox that is. Jodie did get it, although not nearly as bad as her older sister, Abigael. I was thankful that we were still breastfeeding as it became her comfort when she was itchy or uncomfortable from the pox lesions. I am also thankful that she didn't break out until a week after her birthday.

She may be my independent little miss but it is nice to know that there are still times for her where only mommy milk will do

.

Until next month.

Happily nursing,

Jodie and Laura †
