The 26th Month

Laura & Jodie's Journal

July 1998

Twenty-six month old Jodie Grace continues to be a happily nursing child. She generally only asks for mommy milk early in the morning, right before nap time and right before her bed time. The rest of her days are filled with playing, exploring and learning that is typical of a two year old.

Our nursing times have been changing this past month. Jodie insists that we go into the "mommy room" to have mommy milk. It seems that our times in my room, with the shades drawn and the gentle whir of the ceiling fan is the perfect time for her to not only receive comfort and nourishment but to relax, center down and recharge her little batteries. No, they don't keep going and going and going although sometimes it seems like they do. LOL

One thing I noticed about my nursing child is how unlike she is what some may expect of a child who is "still" breastfeeding. Jodie is very headstrong and independent. When she is outside exploring her world, whether it is the beach, the pool, the park or her own yard, the last thing she wants is mom, dad or big sisters hovering over her. We cramp her style I guess. So much for the notion that she would be too clingy and dependent.

Until next month.

Happily nursing,

Jodie and Laura †
