The 28th Month Laura & Jodie's Journal Jodie is now 28 months. She seems to be at the brink of some major milestones all around......potty training, moving to a big girl bed, giving up her binky at nap time and mommy milk. I am a little ambivalent about all of these milestones. Maybe because to me she is still very much my baby and it just seems like this is so much for one little one to take on and accomplish. So while she seems to be heading towards truly being a big girl mommy is keeping a firm but gentle hand on her to slow her down. For now her binky supply is dwindling down as they get worn out or she loses them.....funny how she finds them though! As they disappear, they are not being replaced. Her time with them has been limited to naps and bedtime only. When she is out of sorts we have hug time in the rocking chair with her favorite blanket and a doll. We have decided to make the move to the big girl bed in late October. She moved out of our bed over a year ago and really enjoys sharing a room with her sister. Potty training, well, who knows. I learned the hard way with one of her sisters that this is one area that a child cannot be pushed into. You either have well trained parents or a lot of tears and frustrations......and the child is upset too! For now Jodie loves to sit on her potty fully clothed or in between diaper changes. That is just fine with us. We know she won't start kindergarten wearing diapers. What about mommy milk? She still very much wants it and enjoys our nursing sessions. We have a ask don't offer policy here. I don't offer anymore but if she asks, the answer is always yes. Her twice daily nursing sessions are pretty much one sided now. She always asks for the "udder side" as she calls it but she is content to squeeze a few drops out and lick them up and then announce she is done. I would not even begin to predict when she will nurse for the last time but I have a feeling that I will not be breastfeeding anymore come the beginning of 1999. Kind of sad, yes, but there are many more milestones to come after that. My other three daughters have shown me that. Until next month,
