The 11th Month

Brittany & Sierra's Journal
May 1998

Well this month Sierra's eating is changing a lot. She's actually eating a lot more solids than she used to, but still not much. Until the last week of April she ate about 6 times a day. The last week of April she got the rotovirus. It was terrible for both of us. She couldn't even keep breastmilk down and so she lived on pedialyte for 2 days. I was worried because she already is a small girl. (The same week she weighed in at 15 lbs. 9 oz.) The afternoon of the next day was better and she started to eat a lot more. After that she started to eat a lot more of our food. Sierra has never been one for baby food.

On Monday the 11, I started a training program for a job to work at home. The bad thing is the training is at the company..and is 4 weeks long. My mother-in-law said she would watch her. I am only gone for 5 hours but these 1st few days have been interesting. Sierra will not drink my milk out of a cup from grandma so she just eats a few little snacks until I get there. By the time I get there I am hurting because I'm ready to feed her. I'm hoping my body will get used to her schedule and I hope she will start to drink out of the cup.

I love our nursing relationship. It's so hard for me to leave her though I know it's only for 4 weeks. I don't know when I am going to wean her. I don't really want to yet. I guess I'll wait and see how things go.

See ya next month!
