The 14th Month

Brittany & Sierra's Journal

August 1998

Well I am still nursing my angel and I still love it. I bought a book on weaning from the lactation station. The lady behind the counter told me that after I read it I probably wouldn't want to wean for awhile. She was right. I wasn't sure when I was going to wean anyway but I know it won't be for the next couple of months.

Sierra is still picky with her regular food. Some days she eats quite a bit and others nothing. I am not worried though because I know she is getting her nutrients from me. I do give her a cup of milk once in awhile until she throws it on the floor.

I have been getting a lot of negative feedback lately. People are amazed I am still nursing. I have been told it is disgusting. I don't understand why our society is so mixed up. It is the normal thing to do and 15 months isn't a long time to breast feed. Many around the nurse may even nurse up to age six.

I love that Sierra and I still have our special nursing moments. She may be busy and play all day long but she still comes back to momma for milk, or'doob' as she calls it.

I am thinking about having another baby. My husband is ready but I just feel like I haven't given Sierra enough of my complete attention yet. I am really confused about this one. Will I know when I am ready....or are you ever ready?

Well til next month......keep on nursing!
