Chapter One

Cassie's full name was Cassandra Alexis Smith. But everyone called her Cassie. She lived with her two younger brothers 16 year old Dominic, and 12 year old Devon, and her two sisters, 10 year old Marie, and 23 year old Carla, who had taken care of Cassie, her sister and her brother's for almost two years. Cassie was popular in college, she was dating the hottest guy on campus, Lance Moxly.

Cassie was sitting in the cool sand on the beach, drawing the ocean at sunset. Suddenly a dolphin jumped up. Cassie smiled, her best friend from six years ago, the famous Nick Carter loved dolphins.

Cassie smiled at the memory . Nickolas Carter she thought, a shiver ran down her spine. The cool night air whipped her honey blonde hair around her face, the sunset made her brown eyes twinkle. She thought back to the last day she saw Nick. They were in 7th grade, standing in front of the ocean at sunset. He had given her a silver necklace with a little dolphin on it, As he clipped it on her neck he whispered in her ear " I'll be back and we'll start right were we left off," His blue eyes had melted her like carmel.

"Shame shame Cassie, you have your man," she laughed, standing up. She picked up her purse and note pad and began to walk to her white jeep. Slowly she turned back, her hand went to her throat to touch the little silver trinkett she wore, "Where are you Nick? You promised remember?" She whispered. She took one last look as the sun went below the horizon. She laughed and climbed into her car driving home.

Meanwhile....

Nick sat on the floor, infront of a large mirror in blinding heat. He sat trying to watch the coreographer with out passing out from heat stroke.

"Nick!" someone called. Nick turned around to see Sarah Miller, the woman who handeled the fan mail, Nick stood up, releaved to move. When he got close enough he reached for the letter she held and read it over. He looked at the picture and read the letter once again to make sure he wasn't dreaming.

Dearest Nickolas, I had no other way to reach you. I don't even know if this letter will reach you in time for Bailey's funeral. I am just writing to inform you , that my brother, 17 year old Bailey, You remember, your best friend since 1st grade, the guy who saved you from Gunther Harris in 4th grade. Well he and my parents died in a large car crash. It's been four years Nick , I've been waiting for four years. While Bailey was in the hospital, he told me you'd be back, because you always kept your promises. Four years Nick, where are you? I miss you. And Bailey wanted you at his funeral. Give my regaurds to your friends and family.

Forever yours, Cassie Cassandra Alexis Smith

p.s. I am 17 years old, I refuse to start off holding hands again.

Nick looked the picture over one more time, Sure enough it was him, in 7th grade he guessed. With A girl that had honey blonde hair, he remembered the feel of it.. and bright brown eyes, he remembered the way they'd twinkle. Nick was in shock, "Sarah this letter is dated two years ago," he looked up at the woman.

"We can't get to every letter " she shrugged snapping her gum and then taking in a hit of her cigrette. Nick gave her a look of disgust and turned back to the guys.

"Hey guys I ... uh ... don't feel well , I'm going to go lay down for a little bit," he lied.

Brian smiled. "Okay Frack,".

Nick waved goodbye, and ran down the street to his hotel, Holiday Hotel.

A few minutes after he opened the door, he was sitting on the side of the bed, next to the telephone. Quietly he sat chewing on his lip, holding the reciever in his hand. the gentle hum was the only noise in the room.

He decided he wouldn't call her, he hadn't seen her in 6 1/2 years, maybe she didn't want to talk to him. Maybe he could just show up. Nick brushed his hair back off his forehead. No she might not want to see him.

He smiled "A letter," he thought. Stumbling over a stool he got a postcard of a dolphin in mid leap and proceeded to write.
