"Get out of the way, nerd," he yelled pushing me and making me fall to the floor. Everyone that was at the hallway laughed at me.
"It only happens to me" I thought "On the first day of school and it already starts like this". Like every year Nick Carter the hottest guy around picked me to be the one he was going to made fun of all year. I couldn't help it, I did look like a nerd, I was really geeky, I wore these huge glasses, had braces and dressed really really bad. I can't believe that being 17, I had no sense of fashion. But this was our last year at school and I was going to leave for college and never see him again. That was another problem, I actually liked him, a lot, you see, why do you love what really hurts you? I guess love is just painful.
"Are you OK?" I heard somebody say behind me.
"Yes I'm fine," I said turning around to see who actually had the nerve to talk to me.
"Good" she said, "My name is Crystal, I'm new here, I come from New York".
"I'm Meghan, I actually live here," I said "It's late so I have to go to my class now. Nice to meet you, Crystal".
"Yeah, me too, nice to meet you, Meghan". And I walked away to my classroom.
When I got there I sighed deeply knowing that Nick was there and that the moment he'd see me he'd make fun of me. I slowly opened the door and stepped inside.
"Look, nerdy girl is late" he said and like always everybody laughed.
"Take a seat, Meghan" Ms. Madison said and I sat at the back of the classroom. The hours passed quickly and I found myself eating at the cafeteria.
"Can I sit here?" somebody asked me. I looked and it was Crystal.
"Sure" I said and she took a seat in front of me.
"Since I'm new here, would you like to hang out with me and show me around? I've never been to this area of Florida and I need some company" she said.
"Sure, Ruskin is a very nice place, I'm sure you'll like it" I said.
"I hope so," she said. And we started a very nice conversation about her life in NY and about my life here. I told her everything. I needed somebody who I can trust and somehow Crystal inspired me that. While we were talking Nick came into the cafeteria and I stared at him almost drooling.
"Hey girl, close your mouth, you're drooling!!!!" Crystal said looking at me. I couldn't help but laugh at he comment, but I kept staring at him, watching every move.
"Sorry, I couldn't help it"
"You must really like him" she added seriously and in the same tone I said.
"Yeah, I like him a lot; but he's not interested in me, I mean look at me"
"Don't worry, we'll work it," she said grinning widely like she had some mysterious plan in mind. We kept on talking and making plans for the afternoon.
