Chapter Four

Nick stood in front of a large white building. "Why did she choose Mexico?" he asked Brian, who had came with him, for Aaron. The white building was large and boarded up, like no one had been there in centuries.

"Stay here. I'll send Aaron out. When he is safely out, get him in the car and drive home. I don't know if I'll ever come out." Nick shook Brian's hand, but emotion got the best of him. He began sobbing and hugged Brian tightly.

Slowly he made his way to the old wooden door. He pressed his hand on it and got an overwhelming sensation. He looked back at Brian. He was standing alone, crying. Nick missed him already. Carefully he walked in. Nick looked around for the trap door that would lead him into a tunnel. Finally he found it by an old wooden... thing. He opened it slowly and peered inside.

The tunnel was lit with torches. Carefully he grabbed one and shuffled his was inside. It was quiet as he made his way to his brother. The silence scared him. He stopped and pulled out his wallet. He had pictures of his friends, family and Daisy. He heard a crack and quickly closed his wallet and shoved it back into his pocket. He hadn't realized he had made it into a main room. On the wal chained up was his brother.

"Aaron?" he whispered.

Aaron took all his strength and looked up at him. Nick hoped he would be able to run out of here. Nick began to walk to him , but a woman appeared in front of him. "Hello Nickolas..." she smiled, revealing two fangs.

"You said you'd let Aaron go if I stayed. Let him go." he begged.

Scarlet nodded curtly. She snapped her fingers and the chains released Aaron to the floor. He groaned in pain. "How to you expect him to get out of here without any source of energy?" Nick asked.

"Oh Calm down angelic one, he shall regain energy in a few moments." As if on a cue. Aaron stood up.

"Aaron run outside, Brian is out there to take you home." Nick called.

Aaron looked at his big brother. "Nick, aren't you coming too? Can't you leave?" he begged.

"No buddy, tell everyone I love them. Now go!" Nick screamed.

Aaron shook at his voice, then began to run.

Outside...

Brian paced along the side of the car. He couldn't believe he let his best friend do this. He couldn't believe he even believed that Aaron could be in there. He looked at his watch.

"Brian! Brian!" Brian looked at the sound of the voice. Aaron stumbled out of the building. Nick wasn't crazy.

"Brian, Nick's still in there." Aaron cried.

"I know buddy, he'll come home soon. I hope.". Brian lifted Aaron into his arms. He was so light! Quickly he got him buckled into the car.

"No Brian, we have to save Nick!" Aaron sobbed.

Brian was crying too, but he had to follow what Nick told him. So he began to drive back to the airport.

Back inside...

"Did they leave?" Nick asked. He knew Scarlet could sense it.

"Yes. Shall I take you to your room.".

Nick nodded sadly. He followed her down a long hallway and down long stone steps. She pushed open a wooden door and guided him inside.

"Eternal bliss and power shall be ours." she whispered touching his cheek.

He couldn't move. He began to cry. Scarlet felt his tears drip on her finger tips. "You are crying? Why? What is it that makes a soul cry?" she asked innocently.

"I miss my family, my friends, my brother. And Daisy...". He looked down. But he felt Scarlet's dead cold hand ease his chin up.

"Why do you miss them so?" she asked.

"Don't you miss your family?" he asked.

The question confused Scarlet, Family? What was a family and did she ever have one? Memories rushed through her mostly dead body. "My family... I killed them .I killed them in 1472. A long time ago, in Ireland"

Nick looked at her. She looked sad. It made him feel guilty for bringing it up.

Scarlet fought all temptation to fall in love with this human. She couldn't not when she was this close.

"Good night" she said and quickly rushed out the door, locking it behind her.

Nick looked around the bed. He was surprised to see it, actually nice. There was a bed and a dresser. They looked like antiques. He eased himself on the bed. He suddenly felt like he was ready to throw up. He laid down and began to sob.

Outside the door Scarlet watches through the bars. "Sh-h don't cry." she whispers more to herself then to Nick. She bites her bottom lip and begins to walk away.

Was it true? Was she falling in love with him? Slowly she walked to her room.

Nick woke up the next morning hoping it would just be a dream. He sat up slowly and rubbed his face. A letter was lying next to him. He was getting really sick of these letters.

Nickolas, Come see the oracle with me, she will tell you when you will join us in eternal life. Scarlet.

He looked up to see Scarlet. She smiled and took his hand. She was wearing a blood red dress, with a black scarf. She could tell Nick was scared. They made their way to the oracle.

Once inside, he watched as Scarlet lightly dropped some kind of pebbles into the pool. Wind began to pick up and he seen a beautiful face. He was in awe. The woman began to speak.

"Scarlet, you have found the angelic one? He has everything I told you, the hair of gold, eyes as the sky deep as the ocean, voice of an angel. You shall not kill him. He shall live. You must let him chose to be with you. That shall be thy only way to rule together."

With that the woman was gone...

Nick blinked a couple of times. "She said it was my choice if I leave or not." Nick stated.

Scarlet bowed her head. " Yes, it shall be your choice." she answered.

Nick looked how sad she was. "She also said it was my choice to live or die."

Scarlet looked at him. What was he getting at?

"Yes that's correct, she did." Nick walked closer.

"Then I want to stay. Not die, just stay. You look so sad." he whispered.

"No you must leave." she said and stomped out of the room. Nick looked confused. He didn't understand why he was falling in love. It just kind of happened. He looked at the pool. Slowly he closed the door and dipped his hand in the pebbles. He repeated Scarlet's actions.

The wind picked up and the woman returned. "Angelic one? Why shall thou use this oracle?" she asked.

Nick took a deep breath and began to speak. "I wish to love Scarlet, but is there any way, we can fall in love?"

The oracle was silent. "You shall be her destroyer. For she has already fallen for you. She wants badly to start the new century but yet she wants to join you in mortality. You may not see it, but in your world it has already been a month, in our world it has only been two days. You must leave our world. Go to your own. Scarlet must choose her own destiny.". Nick watched as the oracle disappeared into the darkness.

He pulled the door open. He walked to his room to find yet another letter. "What is with her and letters?" he asked himself. He picked it up and read it.

Nickolas, you must leave. Return to your world. Scarlet.

He held in his hand the letter and an antique necklace. It had an oval sapphire with a sparkling silver 'S'.

Nick sighed and put the necklace in his bag. He left the world with out saying good bye to Scarlet. He returned to his family.
