Nick knocked on the door. I opened the door and headed for my car with a suitcase and my computer case. I put them in the backseat.
"Can y shut the door?" I yelled mad at Nick who was
just standing there.
He shut the door and came to my car.
"Wait, I have to talk to you," he said shutting the
door before I got in.
"I'm sorry, I can't see you anymore. Goodbye," I said
quoting him. I got in the car and started it up. I drove off without
letting him explain.
I called Brian on my cell phone.
"Hello?" I heard him answer.
"Brian, its Al," I started, "I'm in my car."
"On, that explains why Nick is coming back in my house. I
thought he'd be
at yours for a while," Brian replied.
"Anyway, I had to get away from him, but it works out perfect
because I
have to go to New York for some business. So I just wanted to
let you know where I am," I explained.
"Great! We're flying to New York tomorrow. You think you
could stop by our hotel and help me get ready for the grammies?"
Brian asked.
"I don't wanna run into Nick at all," I replied doubtful.
"I'll keep you two apart. Come on Al, please?" he begged.
Nick heard him say Al and immediately watched Brian carefully.
"Let me talk to her," Nick mouthed to Brian. Brian nodded
and held up his
finger indicating to wait a minute.
"Fine," I reluctantly agreed.
"So, I'll see you there, um Al stay on the line a sec. I'll
seeya," he said and handed the phone to Nick.
"Ali, don't hang up," he pleaded.
"Why won't you just leave me alone and get back to your other
life?" I
yelled.
"Because I love you!" Nick yell into the phone. Brian's
mouth dropped as
did mine. There was a silence all over, "Ali?" Nick
whispered.
"You don't understand," I replied and clicked off.
"Heh," Nick laughed a little looking at the phone.
"What?" Brian asked curious.
"All she said was, 'You don't understand," Nick smiled.
"So?" Brian shrugged.
"Well, I know how girls act and that means she's gong to
forgive me," he
grinned.
"You asshole," Brian laughed.
"Yeah, but did I get her back?" he smirked.
"Not quite, she told me to keep you away from her,"
Brian replied
When I got to New York I bought a copy of Rolling Stone to read at the hotel. I opened the first page. It was a picture of ME!
"Nick Carter's girlfriends home wrecker," the title
read.
"What the hell did he do?" I yelled sitting down on
my bed. I read more of the article. It was about how Nick saved
me from a relationship. It said I
wrecked Dan's life.
I couldn't believe it.
I fell asleep crying. The next morning I heard a knock. I opened
the door to see Brian.
"Where the hell is he?" I asked pissed.
"I guess you read it," Brian assumed, "But he didn't
do it. I found out how it happened so just calm down," he
said leading me to the couch, "That reporter just got your
name, where you work, and knew you were special to Nick. She called
Dan and asked him what happened. It wasn't Nick's fault,"
he explained.
"Where is he?" I asked softly.
"Room 738, he's been drinking, a lot because of this. So
he's not really himself right now. But go anyway and tell him
it's not his fault," Brian
smiled. I got up slowly and walked to his room. I knocked and
AJ answered.
"Hey," he said gently," Nick's in the bedroom,"
he greeted me welcomingly. I walked in the dark hotel room. Bottles
were everywhere. I slowly opened the door to the bedroom.
"Nick?" I asked almost in a whisper. Millions of bottles
were everywhere. I was scared I'd trip over one. I stayed silent
and waited for a response. I
could only hear deep breathing, "Nick?" I questioned
again. I felt a cloth material on the floor. Nick's shirt.
Thanks God he was still in it. He was passed out.
"AJ," I called quietly," Help me get him in bed,"
we carefully layed Nick in bed.
AJ left us alone. I played with his hair and stared at him. I
even started to
talk to him.
Then I realized his heartbeat was weak and his breathing was shallow.
"AJ!" I yelled, "He's sick or something,"
I said worried.
"I'll call for help," he said picking up the phone.
"Did he drink all these himself?" I asked.
"No, me and Howie help," he lied. he didn't want to
worry me.
I heard AJ talking to the person when I heard a groan.
"Are you awake?" I asked gently to Nick. He tried to
reply, but he covered his mouth and ran into the bathroom.
"AJ," I yelled happily. He stepped in the room, "He's
okay. He's throwing up in the bathroom. Me and AJ took shifts
all day and all night watching him
until we fell asleep on the bed.
Nick now sober, but with a headache spotted us.
"Ali, wake up," he softly said shaking me.
"Hi," I whispered still tired, "Don't you ever
drink again!" I yelled hitting him with a pillow.
"Okay, I won't," he said rubbing his head.
"Come on. Lets go to my room. We need to talk," I said
getting up.
We slowly walked to my room. I opened the door and we sat on the
bed.
"Did you see the article? I'm sorry," he apologized.
"You didn't do it," I replied, "Brian already explained.
Why did you run out on me?" I asked.
"I thought I screwed things up. I didn't wan to go so fast,"
he replied.
"But you made sure I was ready, don't you remember? You asked
if it was
okay, and I said sure, so I don't see what's wrong. I liked it,
but if you
think it was wrong then I'm sorry for saying yes," I explained.
"Lets just forget about hits," Nick suggested.
"Okay, but right now, I'm going back to sleep," I said
getting under the covers. Nick did as I did.
"I love you," he whispered.
"No you don't," said as I fell asleep.
"Yes I do, very much so," he whispered and kissed my
head. He too soon
fell asleep.
