My alarm went off at 7 the next morning. I hit the off button and got up.
"Take the day off," Nick groaned pulling me back in
bed.
"I can't," I replied.
"What if I almost die again?" he asked.
"Then I'll rush back and kill you myself," I smiled
and went in the bathroom.
"I guess I better not do that then," he laughed to himself.
"Okay, gotta go," I hugged him.
"Can I come?" he whined.
"Nicky, just go back to bed," I said kissing him, "Please?"
I asked seductively.
"Fine," he replied pretending to be mad.
I went to my executive board meeting and it was pointless. They
had no
clue what should happen with the business so we all went on home.
I went back to the hotel and hopped on the elevator. I was very
annoyed
at the sight that all the floors had been pushed and the music
was driving me crazy, "I bet Howie did this," I muttered
in reference to the buttons that were hit.
Finally, I reached my floor. I stepped out and got hit in the
head with a frisbee. I looked over and saw Nick and Brian trying
to hold in laughs. Brian had obviously thrown it. Nick was pointing
at him, and he had a guilty look on his face.
"What is it with you guys and frisbees?" I asked upset.
I went directly to my room without saying hi to Nick. I had a
bad headache because of all the events that had occurred that
day. I heard a soft knock followed by Nick poking his head in
slightly like he was scared.
"Yeah?" I asked looking at him.
"Why're you so mad?" he asked coming in and shutting
the door and walking in further.
"Bad day," I replied stretching. I sat on the bed and
rubbed behind my
neck.
Almost immediately Nick came over and started massaging behind
my
shoulders, "Thank you," I sighed.
"No prob," he said happily, "Ali," he paused,
"Will you be my date for the
grammies?" he asked. I grabbed one of his hands and turned
around to
look at him.
"Yes," I said flatly.
"Good. Brian said he'd take you out shopping for a dress,"
Nick said still nice and peppy.
"So, our first date is the grammies," I laughed.
"Actually, I was wondering. You wanna go out tonight?"
he asked
solemnly.
"Sure," I shrugged, "But it has to be a double
date," I demanded.
"With who?" he asked.
"Brian and Tiff, I'll set them up," I said happily.
"Tiff? From high school?" he asked surprised.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Okay, well, I"ll pick you up at 7, okay?" he asked.
"Yeah," I smiled.
"Seeya then," he said leaving.
I called Tiff and she came over immediately.
"You're with Nick again?" she squealed. I nodded.
"Tonight is our first official date. Tiff, I haven't been
on a date in a year and I don't know, I'm nervous around Nick
outside of the bedroom. Like in public. I'm scared. What if fans
see us? Will they hate me? I mean, he asked ME out! Its not like
I tried to steal their man or anything," I admitted,"
I just really need you to be there for support."
"That's why I'm here," she smiled, "Besides, that
Brian you're fixing me up with, he's adorable. My cousin is in
love with him. Just wait till I tell her
about tonight."
"He's one of my best guy friends. He is really fair about
things. Like if Nick
messes up. He won't immediately go on his side because he's a
friend, he'll
decide who's right," I replied, "Dress hot and he'll
love ya."
We got ready to go and I was still nervous. I put on a black spaghetti
strap tank top with a baby blue see through shirt over it and
black leather pants. Then to top it off I wore clunky black shoes.
My hair was let down and curled under with my layers framing my
face.
"Are you trying to get laid?" Tiff asked looking at
me. She sounded
serious.
"Its too much, isn't it?" I said doubtful.
"No, you look good," she replied stopping me from changing.
"He's not going to like it," I said looking myself over
in the mirror.
"Al, don't worry," Tiff said fiving me a reassuring
hug. There was a knock on the door.
"He's here," I said still nervous. I pushed my fear
away and put my
pea-coat over my outfit. I casually opened the door to see Brian
standing there with a goofy smile. He also had roses in his hand.
"Hey Al," he smiled.
"Where's Nick? He's not coming? I knew this wasn't a good
idea. You two
just go on. I'll be fine," I said freaking out.
"Ali, settle down," I heard Tiff call from the other
room.
"Is that Tiff?" Brian whispered.
"Yeah, come on in. She's not ready for your date yet. I'm
just gunna go
change," I said walking away.
"Ali, he is coming," Brian said pulling me back by my
arm, "Calm down. I
mean, it's just a date."
"But its the first date," I mumbled. There was another
knock on the door,
"Tell him I'm sick, I can't do this," I got up and headed
for the bathroom,
but Tiff came out just then and stopped me.
"Go get that door," she said sternly. I took in a deep
breath and nodded. I slowly walked to the door and opened it slower
than how fast the hour hand on a clock goes by.
"Hey Ali," Nick said casually walking in past me. He
was wearing jeans
and a football jersey.
"Hi," I said kinda dissappointed. Brian had baught Tiff
roses and dressed
nice, Nick was just well...Nick.
"I'm guessing you're Tiff," Brian smiled, "I'm
Brian," he said handing her the roses, "These are for
you."
"Thank you," she smiled, "And yes, I'm Tiff. It's
nice to meet you," Tiff
replied just about to cry. She gave him a hug.
"Tiff, come here," I said pulling her in the bathroom.
"Ali's pissed at you," Brian joked.
"Why?" Nick asked not realizing.
"Look what you're wearing, and you didn't give her anything
and all you
did was say her. You're acting like her brother," Brian explained.
"Whoops," he laughed.
