Chapter 18

"I can't believe I'm at the grammies!" I said amazed.

"Well of course you are. The amazing Nick Carter is your boyfriend," he
gloated.

"You're such a guy," I laughed, "Hey, look who's sitting by me," I nudged
him.

"Switch seats with me," he sighed. I shook my head.

"Hi! I'm AL, and you are?" I asked.

"Justin, Justin Timberlake," he said shaking my hand then kissing it.

"Nice to meet you," I smiled

"You too, who are you here with?" he asked.

"Hi Justin," Nick smiled evilly poking his head in his direction. Nick put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him.

"Him," I said pointing with my head.

"Awwwwhhhhhh," he replied in a jokingly tone.

"Good luck," I encouraged. Nick slightly nudged me.

"Oh, for you guys too," he replied.

The grammies started and awards were won. Almost halfway through
Nick and the guys had to go backstage for their performance.

They came out in flashy outfits. I don't know what the song was called,
but it mainly featured Nick singing. His voice was beautiful. I had seen them dance, but Nick had never let me listen to his voice before. It was truly mind-blowing. After a while they came back and sat down.

"Nick, that was wonderful," I commented, "I thought it was going to be
like cheesy music, but wow!"

"Does that mean I get some tonight?" he asked whispering. I slapped his
shoulder,

"Is that a yes?"

"Shutup," I laughed. The show went on the same. I grew more and more
tired as it went on. FINALLY, it came to the best album of the year.

"Good luck," I whispered in Nick's ear. He took my hand and squeezed it.

"And the winner is....Backstreet Boys!"

I looked over at Nick. His eyes were closed and it looked like he was in
deep thought.

"Nicky, you won," I informed him. He slowly stood up and hugged me tight,
"Go!" I said excited. Nick caught up to the other guys and got on stage. He
was the very last one to say his little speech.

"Hello!" Nick started, "I'm sure these guys have covered everything
except, I gotta say thanks to Al. I know I've been a jerk but thanks for supporting me tonight," he smiled looking at me.

"Awww," Justin said nudging me.

"Shutup," I said hitting him playfully and turning red. They guys came
back and we headed for the after party. I didn't feel so good so Howie took me home. I layed in bed and went to sleep.

Nick was still at the after party. Since I wasn't there he figured a few drinks wouldn't hurt. I mean, Brian was there, he'd make sure he stayed in line. It turned out he drank too much again. He was causing problems so Kevin took him back to the hotel. He was on his way back anyway.

An hour went by and the party was still in full swing. Until Brian remembered that Nick went home drunk.

"AJ! Where's Ali?" Brian asked panicked.

"Howie took her home like an hour and a half ago," he replied.

"Shit!" Brian yelled and ran out. He got to the hotel quickly and ran upstairs.

Brian saw what looked like a bloody handprint on the door.

"Ali!" he yelled, "Nick!" He yelled scared of what had happened. He
pulled out the spare key Nick had given him before the party and opened the door. I was unconscious, but Nick was still drunk and beating me.

Brian tackled him and punched him. Nick got back on his feet and hit Brian. He then went back to slamming me into the wall. Brian quickly got up and knocked Nick out good this time.

Without doing anything else Brian picked me up and carried me to his
room. He layed me down on his bed. He grabbed a wet towel and cleaned my blood away. He put band-aids all over and even taped up some wounds.

"Al?" he asked shanking me, "Ali?" he whispered. I wouldn't wake up so he just let me stay. He kissed my forehead and went to sleep.

The next morning Nick called Brian's room panicked.

"Is Al there?" he asked.

"Yeah," he replied quietly.

"Is she okay?" he asked.

"Hell no Nick! You beat the shit out of her! I haven't been able to even talk to her yet. You knocked her out and she hasn't woken up yet," he explained.

"Let me come see her," he begged.

"Fine, but be quiet," Brian said hanging up. Nick walked outside the room
and saw the blood stain on the door.

"Ali," he whispered as he put his hand over my print. He went to Brian's
room and knocked softly.

"Hey," Brian said opening the door with a mad look on his face.

"I can't believe I did it again," Nick sighed.

"Come on," Brian said opening the door more. Nick slowly walked in, "She's been in the same position all night."

"Ali," Nick whispered kneeling by my side.

"Nick, you can't do this anymore. You have a problem and you can't drink
AT ALL! She's gong to forgive you, but this isn't right," Brian explained.

"I know," Nick sighed.

"No you don't! you wouldn't have drank!" Brian yelled.

"Shutup," I mumbled and rolled over.

"Ali," Nick whispered again.

"5 more minutes, that's all," I begged.

"Not just yet. You can sleep all you want, but don't go back to sleep yet," Brian said walking over to the bed.

"Why?" I whined.

"Al, just listen to him, please," Nick said almost silent he was so quiet.

"Fine," I grouched sitting up.

"I have to check for a concussion," Brian announced, "Al, how many
fingers am I holding up?" Brian asked with all 5 up.

"5."

"Follow my finger with you eyes," he instructed. I followed perfectly, but got a little dizzy, "Okay, who's sitting in front of you and beside you?"

"Brian in front, Nick by side. Can I sleep now?" I asked tired.

"Yeah," Brian smiled, "Sweet dreams."

"I love you. Feel better, we gotta go out and do interviews," Nick said
disgusted with himself, "I'm so sorry Al."

"Okay," I said half asleep. I slept for the whole day. I finally awoke. There was a note saying that I should go downstairs and meet the guys for dinner at 7. It was 7:15 so I went on down.
