I called Brian the next morning. I explained everything to him.
"Could you maybe take my kids out while I take care of some
business?" I
asked.
"That's fine, is it okay if Nick goes? I mean since you guys
had a fight and all," he asked.
"That's fine. Kat wants to seem him again before you guys
leave. What time will you have them back by?" I asked.
"4 okay?" he asked.
"That's fine," I said and hung up, "Kids Brian's
going to take you guys out today. Hurry up and her ready,"
I called to them.
"Can Roadie come?" Turn asked.
"As long as Brian doesn't mind," I replied. Kate comae
out with my makeup on her face and with a dress on.
"I'm ready!" she smiled.
"Kathleen!" I exclaimed, "You look beautiful, but
you can't use makeup yet. I'll buy you your own when you're older,"
I said wiping the makeup off.
"Okay," she replied. Then doorbell rang.
"Kat can you get it? I have to check on your brother, I said
going to see
Brian.
"Are you Kat?" he asked kneeling to her level.
"Yes I am, are you Brian?" she asked.
"Yes ma'am, he said picking her up.
"Is Nick coming too?" she asked when she saw him walking
up to the door.
"Um, yeah," he replied.
"Hey there Miss Kat," Nick said taking her from Brian's
arms.
"Hey," she replied, "Ali stopped crying finally.
She was so upset after you left. She must really miss you whenever
you go away."
"Speaking of Ali, where is she?" Brian asked changing
the subject.
"Getting Turn ready," Kat smiled, "He can't pick
out his own clothes."
"I'll go talk to her," Brian said leaving.
"Why did you leave last night?" Kat asked Nick.
"Me and Ali had a little argument," he admitted.
"Turn, Brian's here we gotta hurry," I said tying his
shoe.
"When's mommy coming back?" he asked petting Roadie.
"Turn, I haven't told your sister this yet so don't mention
it, but yesterday you mom passed away. She's in a much better
place now, so you and your
sister are going to be living with me now," I explained.
"Is mommy in heaven?" he asked.
"Yes, she is," I replied.
"Is she watching over us?" he asked.
"Exactly, but don't tell Kat yet, I have to explain it to
her," I told him.
"Okay Aunt Al," he smiled," Thank you for taking
care of us," he hugged me.
"Sure, I love you guys," i said with my eyes welling
up.
"I love you too," he said and kissed my cheek.
"Now go see what Kat's doing," I said and gently pushed
him.
"Okay, c'mon Roadie," he said picking her up. He walked
on out and Brian
came in.
"You were really good with him," he said hugging me.
"I don't think he understands," I replied, "But
he wants to take Roadie with him, is it okay with you?"
"That's fine," He smiled, "How're you holding up?"
he asked.
"Like shit. The kids are great and all, but its just so hard,"
I admitted. "If you ever need me to watch them I'm here,
well except for the next 5
months," he said with a goofy grin.
"Thanks," I hugged him.
"You're such a good person," he whispered in my ear.
I nodded sadly.
"You guys better get going," I told him.
"yeah, Nick's out there if..." he trailed off.
"You guys better just go," I blurted out.
"Okay, seeya at 4," he kissed my cheek and left.
"Okay guys who's ready to have fun?" Brian asked everyone.
"Who're you?" Turn asked.
"Turn, this is Brian, Brian this is Turn," Nick introduced,
"Is Al coming out to say bye?" There was a hint of hopefulness
in his voice.
"I don't think so," Brian shrugged, "Hey Turn,
I'm Ali's neighbor," he said picking him up.
"Ready to go?" Nick asked everyone.
"Can Roadie come?" Turn asked.
"Yeah," Brian smiled and petted her.
"Lets go!" Kat said getting antcy.
"Okay, okay," Nick and Brian said leaving. They finally
left and I started with the paper work.
The first stop for the guys was lunch at McDonald's. Kat and Turn
got
happy meals and the guys got value meals.
"So what happened last night?" Brian asked Nick unsure
as the two kids
went in the ball crawl.
"Ali was watching the kids and I assumed stuff about their
mother. She
corrected me and told me I took everything for granted. I guess
I just got mad because she was right," he explained, "But
its okay. I'm moving on," he said smugly.
"Nick you're stupid," Brian laughed.
"No, I just know that its over, but anyway, where're we gunna
go now?"
Nick asked changing the subject.
"Well, we have 2 hours left, lets just take them back to
your house. They
could just play in your studio or something," Brian suggested.
"Sure," Nick shrugged. They got Kat and Turn and went
over to Nick's
house. Nick and Brian tried to teach them their dance to "That's
the way I
Like It" but they didn't really care and gave up. Kate grabbed
a mic and started singing a Mandy Moore song.
"You hear what I hear?" Nick asked nudging Brian. Then
Turn grabbed a mic and sang a part of an *N Sync song.
"Hey hey, we'll have no *N Sync sung in this studio,"
Nick told Turn.
"Why?"
"Because they're our competition," Nick explained.
"How you're not singers," he replied.
