"C'mon Daddy!" he called happily,
"Turn! Kat! My daddy's home. He came
back," he yelled. Nick walked in cautiously and closed the
door behind him.
"You're daddy's a bad man!" Turn yelled from another
room, "He makes people cry!"
"No he doesn't, you're just mad because your dad doesn't
care!" Hunter yelled back about to cry.
"Hunt, its okay, you don't have to defend me," Nick
said patting his shoulder.
"How about you go back on your stupid tour, nobody wants
you here," Turn said angry to Nick as he came in the kitchen
where they were.
"Turn shutup!" Kat told him walking in too, "Hi
Nick," she hugged him, "I've been watching you everyday
on MTV," she smiled.
"Hey Kat," he pulled something out of his pocket, "I
saved this," he handed her her necklace.
"Thanks," she smiled.
"Turn, I still have yours," he offered holding it out.
"No thanks. Only girls wear necklaces," he said angrily.
He grabbed an orange and went back in the family room.
"Kids at school made fun of him for not having a dad. So
he said you were
his dad and they made fun of him. He doesn't have many friends
and blames you because of if you hadn't been with that girl he
would've had a dad and had friends," Kat explained, "That
was all before we left school for tutoring."
"Oh, so he's not going to like me too much right now,"
he assumed.
"Yep," she sighed.
"Daddy can we play a game now?" Hunter asked tugging
on his pants leg.
"Yeah, go get it set up and I"ll be out in a minute,"
he smiled down at him. Hunter ran off, "Hows your mom been
since you guys left?"
"She cried every night since we left. She doesn't know I
know that, but I do. She bought out more companies which explains
our bigger house, but she really missed you. She has a secret
collection of TV appearances of you on tape under her bed. Late
at night she watches them," she explained.
"Sounds kinda like how I was," he replied.
"Its ready daddy!" Hunter called. Kat and Nick both
went into the game room. They were in the middle of the game when
Nick's cell phone went off.
"Hello?"
"Nick, its Bri, we have a photo shoot in a half hour, can
you be there?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'll be there. I'm gunna bring a friend, okay?"
he asked.
"Would this be a lady friend? Have you started dating again?"
he asked
hopeful Nick had gotten over me.
"You'll see," he said secretly and hung up, "Hunt,
I have a photo shoot, you wanna go? Kat?" he asked both of
them.
"Me and Turn have dance practice in 15 minutes," she
replied.
"I wanna go!" Hunter said happily and jumped on Nick's
back.
"I can drop you guys off on my way," he told Kat. She
nodded, "Where's
your mom?"
"At the vet with Roadie. She said to call you if she wasn't
home in time to take us," Kat explained.
"Her car is here," he said confused.
"She has two cars. After you're a Backstreet girlfriend,
you never get left alone. So she takes different cars throughout
the day to confuse people," she smiled.
"Oh...go get your brother we gotta go," he said picking
Hunter up off his
back.
Kat ran off.
"What's a photo shoot?" Hunter asked.
"Its when you get dressed up in clothes that aren't yours,
sometimes really ugly clothes and get pictures taken that people
love," he explained.
"I've had that done before, see," he pointed to a picture
on the mantle. He was dressed up in a little suit and was smiling
big.
"Yep," Nick smiled.
"I'm not going with HIM!" Turn yelled.
"Nick, he won't come," Kat whined.
"Stay right here," Nick told Hunter, "Kat take
care of Hunt, I'll get him." Nick walked into the family
room where Turn was. He sat down on the couch by him and turned
the TV off.
"I'll walk," he said folding his arms.
"Turn, I know you hate me, but I love your mother,"
he was cut off.
"She's NOT my mother," he muttered, "And she's
stupid for liking you."
"I don't want to yell at you, but if I have to, I will,"
Nick said calmly, "I'm going to be your father soon and,"
he was cut off again.
"You're not going to be my father. You will NEVER be my father.
My father's in jail and when he gets out, I'm going to live with
him," he yelled, "I hate you!"
"Fine, you act like a baby, I'll treat you like one,"
he stood up and picked him up. He kicked and tried to get away,
but Nick was too big for him, "Kat open the car door,"
Nick said sternly. She listened and opened it. Nick put Turn in
and shut the door. He put the child lock on so he couldn't get
out. Hunter and Kat loaded in and they took off. They finally
reached the studio with Turn kicking the back of Nick's seat the
whole way.
"Thanks Nick," Kat said greatfully. He got out to unlock
the door that Turn was by.
"I'll pick you guys up, just call me when your done,"
he told both of them.
"Don't bother," Turn said hatefully and left.
"I'll keep an eye on him," Kat smiled and followed Turn.
Nick got back in the car and sighed.
"Why does he hate you?" Hunter asked.
"I hurt your mommy really bad a while ago, before you were
born and he
hasn't like me since. He was hurt the most because he really wanted
me to be his dad and hasn't forgiven me for it. But I'll make
it up to him," he explained.
"Did you hit her?" he asked confused by the word hurt.
How was Nick suppose to answer that?
"No, the day she left me I didn't hit her," he replied.
Technically, it wasn't lying.
They got to the studio where the photo shoot was.
"Can I get my picture taken?" Hunter asked as Nick picked
him up.
"Yeah, I'll try to get you in the with the group, but don't
say who your mommy is, I'm going to surprise the guys," Nick
told him.
"Okay," he smiled big. The other guys waited impatiently
for Nick. They
wanted to see who his new girlfriend was. Brian had told all them
Nick was bringing a new girlfriend because that's what he assumed.
Nick and Hunter walked in laughing with Hunter in Nick's arms.
