Chapter 4

The next day I saw Nick and he looked worried.

"He lied to you," he assured me as he opened his locker.

"I know," I replied putting some books away.

"Did you guys miss me?" Tiff called running up.

"I gotta go," I said running away again.

"What's wrong with her?" Tiff asked.

"I'm working on it," Nick smiled, "So we still on for tonight?" he asked.

Tiff nodded. At lunch Tiff had a student government meeting. I sat down alone, but I heard a pop can pop. I looked up. It was Nick.

"Hey," I said confused.

"Hi!" he said peppy. We talked all through lunch. I started to like this guy a whole lot more. Even though he was majorly perverted, he's was okay.

"So, are we still on for tonight?" he asked.

"Yeah," I replied smiling at those blue eyes of his.

"HEY CARTER! It's twice out of the whole week I caught you with her. Are you guys best friends now?" Chris laughed sitting down.

"Chris," Nick warned.

"Man, we're all leaving, you wanna come?" he asked.

"Nah, you guys go on ahead," he said hoping he'd leave.

"Carter, I heard your parents are going out of town. Why didn't ya tell me? You're lucky I am a quick bash organiser," Chris said leaving.

The bell then rang and I got out of there quick.

I waited to say hey to Nick at my locker, but he never showed. I opened my locker and a note fell out.

"Nick, I'm sorry. I should have believed you. My parents are going out tonight. Why don't you come over? We can have fun like the old days. Love, Lily," I read. Tears stung my eyes.

I shut my locker and was zipping up my bookbag when Nick appeared. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked. I dropped the note and walked off. He picked it up and read it.

I was pulling out of the parking lot when Nick jumped in from of my car. "Wait," he begged.

"What? Shouldn't you be preparing for tonight?" I asked coldly.

"I'm not going over there," he said sternly.

"It's none of my business," I said driving off. I went to work upset and Marie noticed.

"Where's loverboy?" she asked curious.

"How would I now?" I shrugged. Work took my mind off everything. It was just the smell of the coffee that made me feel good. I was sure Nick wouldn't show so I went to meet Tiff at the put put place anyway.

"He's not going to show," I told her as we waited. I didn't want to wait for him. He wasn't going to show. I would've put money on it.

"Yes he will," she argued. As usual I was wrong. Nick came up right behind me and grabbed my waist.

"I don't like her," he whispered in my ear. I pulled away.

"Fine," I shrugged.

"Lets play," Tiff squealed happy she was right.

"I'm not too good at this game," I said as we went to the first hole.

"I'll help you," Nick said with a sly smile. I placed my ball on the ground and started to position myself.

"No no. You're doing it all wrong," Nick said as he walked towards me. He got behind me and layed his arms on top of mine. I was shaking because I liked him. It's not everyday you have a gorgeous senior holding onto you.

"Relax, it's just me," he whispered softly in my ear,"You watchin' Tiff?" he asked kinda joking around.

"Yeah, I"m watchin'," she replied happily.

"You best be watchin'," he yelled,"Ready?" he whispered.

"Yeah," I managed to get out. He led my arms up and hit the ball as hard as he could. Tiff burst out laughing.

"Thanks for the help," I said sarcastically. Since it was my ball I had to go get it. I was reaching out for the ball with the net when Nick grabbed my waist and jerked me forward.

"Don't fall," he warned fast. He held onto my waist so he didn't push me in.

I turned around shocked. I hit him on the shoulder. "Don't do that," I said playfully. I grabbed my ball and we played all 18 holes.

We walked Tiff to her car then Nick walked me to mine. "I had a great time. Thanks Nick," I said as we got back to my car.

"Well, I had a great time too. Chris's throwing a party at my house tomorrow night. You wanna come?" he offered.

"Are you sure? I mean me and your friends don't really get along. It's not like I don't know what they say about me," I replied unsure. Nick was a great guy, but his friends weren't all that great.

"It's not only going to be them. I have friends outside of school that're coming. Please Ali, please please please," he started begging on his knees.

"Nick get up, I'll come," I gave in. He stood up and looked into my eyes. He put his hand on my cheek and it fell into my hair. He leaned in slowly and kissed me.

"GET A ROOM!" Tiff yelled as she drove by. Me and Nick both started laughing.

He opened my car door for me and shut it when I got in. I waved through the window and then opened the window confused. "Don't you need my number?" I asked.

"I already got it," he smiled.

"Okay, bye," I said embarrassed. I went home and went to bed.
