Chapter 6

Nick didn't come back to school and he soon left for his tour. Even after the tour ended we refrained from speaking. Soon a year had gone by. Then another and soon enough I was graduating out of college.

My love Dan made me head of a firm in New Your until I found out he was married and his wife was expecting. He transferred me to Florida. My homestate. I bought a small house in a quiet neighborhood. The Realtor said there was a famous guy living next to me, but otherwise it was a nice place.

I went to the grocery store and brought home enough food for a family of 7. The food was greatly needed as my shelves were completely empty.

"Hey, are you the new neighbor?" I hear a guy asked coming up behind me.

"Yeah, I'm Al," I said extending my arm.

"Brian," he smiled, "I always did love guys names for girls," he laughed.

"Well, it's really Alison, but I prefer Al," I smiled back.

"You want some help?" he offered with the groceries.

"Sure," I replied handing him a bag. He helped me carry everything in.

"It feels like I know you," Brian said as I put things away.

"I know same here," I replied not being able to place his face.

"I have some friends coming over, you wanna meet them?" Brian offered.

"Sure," I shrugged. We walked over to his house and his friends were already there.

"Guys, I want you to meet my new neighbor, Al," Brian introduced," Al, these guys are Howie, AJ, Kevin, and Nick."

"You guys look really familiar," I said amazed.

"You too," AJ replied.

"Well we are famous," Howie said smugly.

"Oh, then maybe I just saw you on TV," I shrugged.

"Al, is that your whole name?" Nick asked.

"It's Alison MacLaren," I answered.

"That's sounds familiar," Nick muttered.

"I use to know a Nick," I started," You look almost exactly like him. We were kinda close, but he was in a singing group and he went on tour in Europe. I haven't seen him since tenth grade," I sighed in remembering him.

"Ali?" Nick questioned surprised.

"Nobody calls me that anymore," I said surprised back.

"Is it really you?" he asked staring in my face. I nodded," I tried to find you, but you were nowhere. I can't believe you just showed up. You certainly have grown up," he commented.

"Is this little Ali that flashed Chris?" Brian asked.

"Yeah," I smiled and nodded happily.

"Looking good," AJ said kissing my hand like he did so many years ago.

"So what've you been up to?" Howie asked.

"I'm the head of a firm," I said not really wanting to get into it, "The Realtor said I had a famous neighbor, is that you Brian?"

"Guess so," he shrugged.

"So are you guys still only in Europe, or have you tried in the us yet?" I asked.

"Um, well have you ever heard of the Backstreet Boys?" Howie asked.

"Yeah, they sing 'No Diggity' right?" I asked unsure.

"That's Blackstreet, we're the Backstreet Boys and actually we're like the most popular boyband there is right now all over the world," AJ explained.

"Oh, I haven't really been watching TV sorry. Congrats thought," I said feeling bad I didn't know who they were.

"Thanks," Nick smiled.

"Well, I better go. I have a ton of unpacking to do," I said getting up.

"Do you want some help?" Nick offered.

"That would be great," I nodded," It was nice seeing all of you again." Nick escorted me out and we walked back to my house.

He helped me with al my furniture and I found myself trapped in his eyes every time he looked at me. I wasn't going to fall for him. We were too different.

After we set everything up I went in the kitchen to fix a couple drinks. I could feel Nick's eyes on me.

"You're staring," I commented.

"Sorry," he said coming up behind me and placing his arms on my waist. He pulled me to him.

"Damn," I whispered. Tiff told me I seriously needed to get laid. She said I was way more relaxed when I was with Dan, even though I had never gone all the way with him. The feeling Nick had just given me told me that Tiff was right. He kissed my neck softly.

"I've missed you," he told me gently.

"Nick, I can't do this," I said pulling away," We're too different."

"Ali, I don't know what's going on, but I want you," he replied kissing the skin on my chest that was showing.

"Nick, no," I said not being able to look at him.

"Ali, look at me," he said knowing my weakness.

"No," I whimpered.

"Ali," he said raising my chin. I gave up and looked at him. His eyes pleaded with me. We kissed softly. He moved from my mouth downward. He started kissing my chest again until I pulled away.

"I can't do this," I told him.

Nick didn't know what was going on. Nobody had ever pulled away from him. Normally, he would have just gone to get another girl, but I was different. I was a challenge and he wanted to get me. Not just in a sexual way, but he wanted to get in my mind. He wanted something more.

"I've changed since the last time you saw me," he admitted.

"I can see that," I laughed looking in a mirror at a hickey I had on my collarbone, "Here's your drink," I said handing him a cup. He had a confused look on his face and was kinda pale, "You okay?"

"I dunno, I'm, I just, we're," he stuttered.

"Friends?" I questioned.

"Yeah, I gotta go," he said running out of there fast. I was also confused and hurt.
