It was a hot July day and college was almost over for the summer. Heather and her mates were sitting on the wall out the front of college chatting about the college summer party which was that night.
"Are you going to take Duncan?" Helen asked Heather.
Heather smiled. "Yeah, I'm going with Dunc. But I'd take Ben over him any day!".
They laughed. "You never know, a1 just might be the special surprise guests," Carly suggested. "At least, I hope so!".
They were then interuppted by Helen's boyfriend Terence. "Hiya babe," he said, wrapping his strong, muscular arms around his girlfriend. "Were you girls talking about tonight?" he asked.
"Yeah," Heather said. "We were hoping that a1 are gonna be the mystery guests...".
Just then, Duncan came by. "Yeah right!" he laughed. "a1 are for kids, they won't be at a college party!".
Heather raised her eyebrows at him. "What did you just say?". She grabbed him and pulled him into a head lock.
"OK, OK! I'm sorry!" Duncan pleaded, struggling to get out of her strong grip.
"You'd better be!" Heather laughed.
"Who do you reckon the surprise guests will be?" Naomi asked. "Westlife maybe?".
Heather rolled her eyes. "Better not be!".
"I'd like it to be BSB, but they're touring in Europe now so it can't be them," Lucy said. She was dating Nick and missed him a lot.
"It'll probably be some metal group that the alternative crowd like," Jenny said. "We shouldn't get our hopes up,".
Everyone agreed, but Heather still had her fingers crossed for a1. She had been a fan ever since their first single was out and Ben was her favourite. She had seen them in concert a few times but hadn't met them personally yet.
Soon everyone went separate ways, leaving Heather with Helen, Sarah and Naomi.
"I can't wait for the a1 concert next month," Sarah said. "I wanna see Mark again,".
"Me too," Naomi said, Christian was her favourite member.
"I got my tickets for it in the post this morning!" Helen said excitedly, her favourite was Paul.
"Helen honey!" Terence called from behind them, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"See you lot later," Helen shouted as she walked off with her boyfriend.
At four o clock college was over for the day. The girls were at the train station chatting about the party again. Helen was being very quiet.
"Is everything OK?" Katy asked her, concerned.
Helen grinned. "Yep! Everything's great,".
"Is there something you're not telling us?" Jenny asked her.
Helen nodded. "Yeah, but I can't tell you all yet. You'll have to wait until the party tonight,".
"You know who the mystery guests are!" Carly guessed.
"I might do," Helen winked. "But you'll have to wait and see. I'm not giving anything away yet, it will ruin the surprise,".
The train pulled up and they all got on. Everyone begged Helen to tell them who the guests were but she didn't say a word.
"Come on, you can tell me," Heather said as they got off the train to walk home together. She was going round Helen's house to get ready for the party.
"No, I'm not telling yet!" Helen laughed. "You'll have to be patient!".
A few hours later, the girls arrived at the Hilton Hotel in a white stretch limo. Heather was with Duncan, who looked smart in his tuxedo. Helen was with Terence and some of the others had also brought dates.
"This place is dead posh," Lucy said as they walked into the hotel where the party was being held. They walked down a plushly carpeted corridor until they got to the room where the party was. Balloons were hanging from the ceilings and disco lights were flashing on the dance floor. Most people had already arrived, and were dancing to loud garage tunes.
"Look, there's four microphones set up," Jenny noticed. "That's a good sign,".
Everyone was having a brilliant time dancing, until the music stopped. Everything went dark and the doors at the front of the room opened.
"The surprise guests have arrived!" Heather said to Duncan excitedly.
Suddenly, music came blaring from the speakers. "This is Ready or Not!" Jenny exclaimed. "Oh my God!".
The flashing lights came back on, and to the girl's delight, a1 were standing behind their mikes, looking as gorgeous as ever in black suits.
Heather tried not to scream. "It's really them!" she exclaimed to Helen. "You knew about this!".
"Yeah," Helen smirked. "Terence went to school with Ben and he still had his phone number. He arranged all this for us,".
"Terence, you're a star!" Heather said, grabbing Terence and giving him a mushy kiss on the cheek. "Thank you so much!".
