Chapter 15- The Time Has Come

Counselor Meina had been patient for a whole year now. The time has come to rearrange things a little and claim what is rightfully hers. And what better time to announce her own enthronement than the start of the New Millennium. The power was now in her hands, and the people were on her side. Soon, Nick will be too, she thought slyly. Feya will be on her own.

It was 5 nights before the celebration of the Millennium and everyone was just too busy. She must make her move that night. Things would get too chaotic otherwise.

She summoned her most trusted warrior to her side. "Now is the time," she motioned the warrior to go and capture the Queen. Tonight, she shall tell the people the change in the balance of powers. She must prepare her people before she went on the Screen to tell the whole world of her enthronement.

Queen Feya and Nick were in the Queen's quarters, trying to keep a low profile when they suddenly heard footsteps, and lots of them.

"Sounds like they're heading our way," Nick hinted.

Before they exchanged any more words, Nick and the Queen jumped up. She led him to the trap door under her bad and they ran for their lives.

The guards couldn't find the Queen anywhere. "Search for any hidden doors," Meina's warrior cried out. "And tighten security around the palace."

Quickly, the Queen and Nick boarded their transporter and lifted off. The Queen turned on the cloaking device, but alas, it was jammed. "We just have to move at a fast pace until we pass the energy fields. Nick, why don't you take over while I check what's wrong with the cloaking device."

During his short stay there, the Queen had taught him how to fly. Now it was time to test his skills. Nick took the controls.

"Mam, there was a transporter that suddenly appeared from behind the palace gates. It could be them," the guard said. Meina's warrior laughed wickedly. "Take them down alive."

Nick panicked. Feya couldn't seem to fix the cloaking device.

"I have a bad feeling," Nick said glumly.

"Don't give up, Nick."

As they wheezed through the city in a desperate attempt to escape, Nick knew that they wouldn't make it. Hundreds of fighter wings had begun to circle around them, cutting any escape route that they had.

Suddenly, Nick felt a thud from behind him and everything became dark.
